About the Role
If appointed, your core purpose will be to meet the needs of pupils who are at risk of permanent exclusion by:
- Supporting schools in strengthening their capacity to meet the needs of these pupils.
- Providing an alternative setting where the needs of more complex pupils can be assessed and addressed.
You will lead on establishing and driving the ethos, vision and values of the primary short stay school, ensuring they equally reflect those of the Local Authority and its strategic plan. You will also provide strategic leadership of area provisions for secondary aged children and young people who have been permanently excluded from school.
You will work with staff, governors, parents/carers, local and national networks and wider good practice to build on the strong foundations that are in place to maintain and further improve all aspects of standards and quality in the primary school and secondary provisions.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

About You
To apply for this post, you must:
- Hold qualified teacher status.
- Have substantial and successful experience in a senior leadership role e.g. as a Headteacher, Interim Headteacher, Deputy Head, etc.
- Have experience of school-to-school support.
- Been part of the successful implementation of strategies to improve teaching and learning to raise the standards of academic achievement for pupils with SEMH.
- Have a knowledge of excellence in SEND teaching practices, including appropriate teaching and learning styles.
- Experience of leading provision and managing staff across multiple sites.
- Evidence of successfully working with parent/carers and the community as partners in learning.
- Experience of working in collaboration with other schools to realise improvement and raise standards
You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
