Description

We are looking for an experienced events manager to successfully manage our industry-leading conferences which are unique and unmissable for the energy sector, bringing together over 2,000 attendees each year.

In this role you will manage Aurora's annual conferences from initial planning through to running the event on the day and post event activities. You will manage a team of Event Content Producers and Event Logistics Coordinators and work closely with Aurora's senior management to shape the events.

You will be responsible for delivering the events at the highest standards, including excellent content (topics & speakers), securing sponsors, seamless logistics, working with the marketing team to promote the events and sell tickets, making sure that everything runs smoothly on the day, and organise various debriefs and post event activities. You will also be responsible for managing the events budget encouraging negotiation with suppliers and making sure we stay within budget.

This exciting role will help elevate our events by taking them to the next level while strengthening Aurora's position in the global energy transformation. You will have the opportunity to define and grow our events strategy, working closely with the Events team to build out our approach and improve processes.

You will be a valued member of our Events team, reporting to the Senior Manager for Events and working alongside colleagues of all levels. Exceptional event management skills and a good understanding of business events are vital for this role. Energy knowledge and experience in organizing business events in the energy space are a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Aurora's high profile and market-leading conferences and work with Aurora's senior management to shape those events
  • Manage and grow the team that is organising the content and logistics for these events
  • Achieve the events' KPIs including: number of participants, ticket sales, sponsorship revenue, and develop our event sponsorship strategy further
  • Manage the events budget and keep the costs down
  • Work with the Marketing team to promote the events
  • Manage the events during the day including coordinating the events team and a team of helpers
  • Manage all the follow up activities post event
  • Contribute to developing a set of procedures and improving existing processes
  • Develop Aurora's events strategy further, take our events to the next level and contribute with original ideas to constantly improve our events
  • Generate ideas as part of the wider events team, always asking 'What's next?'

What we are looking for

Required attributes:

  • 5+ years' experience of managing large business events
  • Proven experience of successfully managing a team
  • Good understanding of the business events industry, and ideally of events in the energy space
  • Excellent event management, project management and organizational skills
  • Proactive and well organised, with the ability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to manage a range of activities effectively to deadline and under pressure and to multi-task and re-prioritize in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with senior-level executives
  • Enthusiastic team player with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and wider stakeholders
  • Good PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills;
  • Experience with Project Management tools (i.e Asana, Microsoft Project)

Desirable attributes:

  • Good understanding of the energy industry mainly in the UK and Europe, and ideally across the globe
  • An extensive network in the energy industry in the UK and across Europe
  • Demonstrated success in securing sponsorship for events
  • Experience with Events Management tools (i.e Bizzabo, Stova)
  • An interest in making a positive contribution to the global energy transformation
