Job Description
It is an exciting time at Legal & General, with a newly appointed Group CEO who joined us at the beginning of the year. In light of an increased focus on our internal and external corporate events programme, we are looking for an experienced Events Manager to join our growing team.
The purpose of the position is to support the development of our overall event strategy with a particular focus on the planning and execution of events for our Group Chief Executive, his senior management team and our wider business divisions. The role will also focus on the delivery of events in our key growth regions of Europe. The role will be responsible for managing and delivering our events programme in line with our overall brand, business and strategic growth objectives.
The role holder will develop innovative and creative event solutions to ensure that our events are industry leading, and that they meet our brand and business goals. They will drive and utilise event evaluation techniques and capture feedback on events to assess effectiveness and maximise ROO (short term) and ROI (longer term) and communicate key metrics to stakeholders.
The role holder will be responsible for managing, developing and enhancing all events team processes and procedures and will support the Head of Events on a wide range of strategic projects as required.
What you'll be doing:
- Planning, managing and delivering a wide range of in-person, hybrid and virtual events that support our growth ambitions across all channels, with a particular focus on our key markets in the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific
- Delivering high quality events for our clients and internal stakeholders that are consistent with our brand and business objectives and ensure a premium event experience
- End to end management of our proprietary conferences as well as end to end management of our participation at flagship industry conferences in key growth markets including managing our overall brand presence, any platform speaking opportunities and any associated client events surrounding the conferences as required
- Supporting the Head of Events and Senior Event Managers in planning, developing and delivering a range of internal events across the wider business as required, including hybrid town halls, offsite events, internal conferences and awards evenings.
- Participating as the events team lead for the Virtual Team(s) you are allocated to within Marketing, working closely with them to understand and deliver on their marketing strategy for the year and report back to the Head of Events and wider events team regularly on any key campaign initiatives
- Sourcing, onboarding and developing new relationships with event suppliers in our key growth markets of Europe and Asia in conjunction with Marketing Operations and the Group Procurement team including promotional agencies, print suppliers, 3rd parties, venues and external vendors
- Ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders across the business, to communicate confidently and professionally and pitch new event proposals to senior members of staff
- End to end event budget management including prompt invoice reconciliation, accurate post event budget reconciliation and reporting procedures to internal stakeholders
- Providing detailed post event evaluation, audience analysis, budget analysis, metrics and ROI reporting for the Head of Events, Global Head of Marketing and L&G stakeholders in a timely manner
- Regularly testing, monitoring, and adapting communications to support understanding and good outcomes for customers. Ensuring that communications are clear, fair, and not misleading and are fully compliant with any rules and guidance issued by the relevant regulators, including relevant data protection legislation. Ensuring that communications are reviewed and approved by individuals who have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and expertise, and that such approval is recorded
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
- Degree Educated
- Project Management Certification (such as PRINCE2 or equivalent) desired but not essential
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to procure economies of scale for the business as required
- Significant event management experience in the UK, Europe & Asia, ideally in asset management or the financial services industry
- Significant project management experience - with the proven ability to deliver multiple projects with multiple stakeholders within tight deadlines with strong attention to detail
- Established strong relationships with key event industry suppliers within the UK, Asia and across Europe including but not limited to, production and catering companies, speaking bureaus, creative agencies, promotional gift agencies
- Experience in developing and delivering event plans and strategies for a wide variety of audiences
- Conversant with FCA regulations and legislation surrounding events for the investment industry and a solid understanding of the regulatory framework and compliance requirements that are needed in order to deliver effective events.
- Working knowledge and experience in using Events Software Packages - knowledge of Cvent, Pardot, ON24, Sharepoint
- Proven understanding of the role of events and the different experiential approaches that can be used to enhance the customer experience
- Experience in delivering and driving strategic marketing and event projects
- Confident and dynamic self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creativity balanced with a strong attention to detail
- Able to communicate confidently and professionally with senior investment professionals and a wide range of senior internal and external stakeholders
- Willingness to travel for events as required
- Passion for event management
