The Citrix/VDI Engineer role will be responsible for the management and delivery of the various VDI systems, applications, patches, virtual desktop, and server solutions in the Deloitte environment.

The VDI environments are a growing area, underpinning important business processes and applications. As a technical specialist, the candidate will be expected to provide technical guidance and technical leadership.

We are looking for an End User Technology Citrix/VDI engineer to support Deloitte in a rapidly changing and exciting environment.

The Citrix/VDI engineer should be well versed in the various technology areas with a view to supporting them, but is also expected to show leadership, creativity and problem solving in the system, process, and technology domains. The role requires an understanding of business requirements and how these translate into technology solutions, and you should be comfortable communicating clearly to colleagues, IT leadership and business practitioners. Essential Skills:

  • Citrix - Management of the VDI environments including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) 1912+, Citrix Provisioning (PVS), Citrix Cloud, Citrix FAS, Citrix ADC (NetScaler).
  • User Profile Management - FSLogix for profile containerisation and Office 365 container optimisation.
  • Monitoring tools - ControlUp, UberAgent.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Entra ID - User and group management, SSO, Conditional Access.
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and its management.
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance.
  • Active Directory - Management of Group Policy.
  • Microsoft Intune - device management, compliance policies, configuration profiles.
  • DesktopNow/Appsense - Creation and management of DesktopNow policies.
  • PowerShell
  • Performance Analysis (using tools like perfmon and Wireshark for troubleshooting).
  • Provide 3rd line support for desktop services, operating under the ITIL best practice framework.
  • Respond to service outages which affect Deloitte's business operation and reputation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with clear communication to peers, customers and management.

Desirable skills

  • Good understanding of ITIL framework.
  • AZ900 Azure Fundamentals.
  • AZ104 Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Automation / Scripting.
  • System Development - The creation of tools and utilities to effectively deploy and manage a variety of VDI end points.
  • Work closely with practitioners and vendors to provide technical support and assistance for problems related to end user services.
  • Work with service managers to gather business feedback and align services with required business outcomes.
  • Provide leadership input into evaluation, design, and integration of new technologies into end user platforms.
  • Maintain the performance, availability and security of end user services, with a focus on continuous service improvement.
  • Maintaining documentation, technology compliance standards and landing space policy.
  • Document disaster recover procedures and perform regular tests.
  • Excellent in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 11 and Windows server variants essential) including a full understanding of the Windows registry, services, hardware/software drivers and crash analysis.
  • Proven experience providing 3rd line support of complex Windows and Citrix environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of key Microsoft Applications.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills, building effective working relationships with other service/ support groups.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple and concurrent tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve problems and work to tight deadlines whilst under pressure.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and a proactive approach to workload, able to prioritise multiple and concurrent tasks.
