ER Manager - £45-50,000 + DOE
The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for leading and managing complex employee relations matters across Nightcap's multi-site hospitality estate and support functions. This role ensures fair, consistent and legally compliant handling of ER cases, while balancing commercial priorities and protecting Nightcap's culture and brand reputation. Working closely with Operations Leaders and the Support Office, the role provides expert guidance, mitigates risk, builds management capability and strengthens governance across the business.

Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Advisory
- Lead complex ER cases end-to-end including disciplinary, grievance, performance, probation, absence and investigation processes.
- Provide commercially sound advice aligned to UK employment law and ACAS Code of Practice.
- Support or conduct investigations and formal hearings where appropriate.
- Draft clear and defensible outcome documentation.
- Guide managers through difficult conversations and decision-making.
- Escalate high-risk matters appropriately to the Head of People and external advisors where required.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure all ER processes are consistent, fair and legally compliant.
- Minimise legal exposure and support early risk identification.
- Support protected conversations and settlement discussions where appropriate.
- Work with external legal partners on complex or high-risk matters.
- Contribute to tribunal preparation and documentation if required.
- Maintain accurate case records and audit trails.
Manager Capability & Culture
- Develop ER capability across General Managers, Operations Managers and Support Team Leaders.
- Deliver practical ER training and workshops.
- Coach managers to manage performance and conduct issues proactively.
- Promote a culture of early intervention and consistent application of standards.
- Support alignment across brands to ensure consistent People practices.
Data, Insight & Reporting
- Monitor ER case volumes and trends across the estate.
- Track key themes including absence, probation outcomes, grievances and disciplinaries.
- Provide regular reporting and insight to the Head of People and Executive Team.
- Identify systemic risks and recommend preventative actions.
Policy & Continuous Improvement
- Review and update ER policies in line with legislative changes and business needs.
- Ensure policies remain practical and operationally effective for a late-night hospitality environment.
- Contribute to the development of wider People frameworks and governance standards

Experience
- Significant experience in employee relations within a multi-site hospitality, retail or similarly fast-paced environment.
- Strong, up-to-date working knowledge of UK employment law and ACAS guidance.
- Proven experience managing complex, high-risk ER cases end-to-end.
- Experience partnering with senior operational stakeholders.
- Strong written documentation skills with experience drafting formal outcomes and legal correspondence.
- Experience supporting settlement discussions and working alongside external legal advisors.
- CIPD Level 5 or above desirable.
