About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness

Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Systems & Performance Manager.

The key duties and responsibilities will be to:

- Develop and maintain the Transmission Environmental Management System (EMS), comprising Management Standards, Risk Standards, Environmental Procedures, Reference Documents, Forms, Briefing Notes / Communications and Internal Consents and Environment Team procedures. Implement changes, improvements, and best practices within EMS.

- Lead on the annual EMS management review for Transmission, ensuring necessary performance data, system analysis, objective setting, strategies and compliance reporting is effectively collated, presented and delivered to the SHE Sub-committee, Environmental Sub-Group, Transmission Executive Committee and relevant forums, with clear recommendations on actions and future development.

- Develop and manage effective environmental performance metrics, ensuring targets are monitored and reported on effectively with senior business managers across Transmission. Ensure monthly reporting is accurate, assured and presented effectively to ensure trend analysis and conclusions are fully understood, informing future activities and necessary interventions. Ensuring environmental performance reports are prepared for business reporting and SHE Sub-committee papers.

- Maintain business certification to ISO 14001:2015 to demonstrate effectiveness of the EMS. Prepare for and manage certification gap analysis, extension, surveillance, and re-assessment visits from Certification Body for Business certification, act as point of contact / 'owner' for Transmission certification and coordinate with Group EMS certification activities.

- Develop, coordinate and manage an effective, risk based annual EMS and project portfolio assurance and audit programme, ensuring coordination with Transmission Group Audit, SHE team and project & operational staff. Define the inspection and audit programme to support effective EMS management and business reporting.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Degree in Environmental Management (or similar) / Business Management.

- Previous experience in the application of the Environmental Management Systems and ISO14001:2015 in a complex project environment or in a similar complex environment.

- Experience of external Management System certification and auditing.

- Ability to determine degree of statutory compliance and anticipate and communicate the potential impact of new legislation.

- Experience in the setting and management of strategies, policies, performance indicators and procedures.
