As we continue to grow and innovate, we are looking for a dedicated Lead Engineering Safety & Compliance Engineer to join our team and drive excellence across our operations in Great Britain (GB) and the Island of Ireland (IOI).
The Role
As the Lead Engineering Safety & Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for the leadership and strategic development of Diageo's Global Engineering Safety and Compliance team. You will manage a team of six engineers and external supplier partners, ensuring the successful implementation and consistency to engineering safety and compliance measures across four key areas:
- Process Safety - HAZOP / LOPA
- Machinery Safety - PUWER
- DSEAR Compliance - ATEX, CoMAH, HAC, MIA
- Electrical Safety - HV, LV, Fixed Wiring Inspections
Your role will involve close collaboration with key stakeholders across the business, ensuring compliance, safety, and standard methodology engineering principles are consistently applied.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing, multi-functional engineering team across multiple locations.
- Drive adherence to engineering compliance across market sectors.
- Work closely with strategic and operational site teams to ensure smooth and efficient engineering compliance processes.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve 100% compliance.
- Utilise analytics and insights to track and improve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Embed a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Act as an ambassador for Engineering Safety & Compliance.
- Collaborate with CapEx groups and governance teams to support engineering safety initiatives.

Key Accountabilities
- Provide expert guidance on machinery safety within Diageo's Global CapEx Engineering teams.
- Coordinate and update PUWER machinery assessments.
- Manage the Scotch sector machinery inventory within Diageo's PUWER database.
- Offer machinery safety guidance to site and governance partners.
- Review and update global engineering standards.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Machinery safety qualification (CMSE, UCPD, C&G, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of CE marking and machinery safety design (EN ISO 13849-1 / EN 62061).
- Understanding of The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).
- Electrical qualification (HNC, ONC, C&G, or equivalent).
- ATEX qualification (CompEX 1-4 and/or 14, or equivalent).
- NEBOSH National General Certificate.
- Strong IT and data analysis skills (Excel, Power BI).
- Experience in a fast-paced consumer goods environment.
