Job title: Engineering Manager – NCSISS

Salary: Circa £70,000 dependent on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure engineering resource is available to deliver NCSISS tasking, as well as planning for future tasking taking into account CSE (Combat Systems Engineer) headcount profiles, skillset requirements and business positioning for BAE CSEs
- Oversee NCSISS tasking in-conjunction with the CSE team leads to ensure it is delivered in accordance with the appropriate technical governance, to time and within agreed budgets
- Conduct LfE activities factoring in efficiency and value for money savings in order to identify where improvements can be developed for future tasking
- Report on the status of all NCSISS tasking as directed by the Senior EM and in accordance with normal business reporting processes
- Production and maintenance of Management Plans
- Production of Statement of Works (and support to accompanying bid documentation) for new task scope
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Ability to understand complex demands from user, customer and align these to operational use, to be able to see patterns and opportunities for re-use or convergence of concepts
- Experience of managing the engineering lifecycles through to trials activities and post trials analysis
- Proven experience as a leader and people manager with the ability to direct activities in accordance with business strategy
- Ability to participate and contribute to technical discussions with various stakeholders
Desirable:
- Technical experience of combat systems and architecting methods/toolsets
- Knowledge of complex systems integration within the engineering lifecycle
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The NCSISS (Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Service) Team:
As part of this role you will Manage teams of Combat Systems Engineers undertaking tasking mainly at Portsdown Technology Park but also in multiple locations including international and on sea trials. Working with various stakeholders to ensure the overall NCSISS tasking plan is coherent and meets the expectation of the NCSISS customer.
The MISC located on Portsdown Hill, is a specialist facility providing vital support for Royal Navy warships whilst researching future Combat Systems and Technologies. Shaped like a Type 45 destroyer, the MISC is a unique building that now benefits from new facilities including a state of the art visualisation suite. The site offers a range of staff amenities, including a modern canteen with outdoor seating that offers spectacular views across Hampshire’s rolling countryside, a pool table and a gym.
