Engineering Manager, Data & Machine Learning

The Role

As Engineering Manager for Linktree's Data and Machine Learning team, you'll be responsible for delivering new ML- and AI-powered experiences throughout our core product. These new experiences will unlock impactful new opportunities for our tens of millions of users and our billions of visitors around the world. Most of all, they'll help Linktree achieve our mission: To empower anyone to curate and grow their digital universe.

You'll manage a talented team of ML engineers, backend engineers and data engineers, fostering cross-discipline collaborations to drive impressive results. You'll work across a broad range of ML and AI technologies, including natural language processing, computer vision and recommender systems.

You'll help the team set ambitious goals, hold them accountable for delivery, and distil powerful insights that impact our future strategy. In summary, you'll challenge, mentor, support and enable your team to do the best work of their careers.

Please note: This role requires that you work in London, with 3 days per week from our office and 2 days per week from home.

What You'll Own

  • You'll be responsible for the delivery and real-world application of a broad range of ML and AI technologies
  • You'll work with our senior engineers to design performant, scalable systems that empower our internal teams to self-serve these capabilities in their own work
  • You'll help steer our overall ML and data-science strategies, in close collaboration with other leaders from across the company
  • You'll cultivate clarity for the team by setting clear expectations, managing delivery and developing performance
  • You'll create a culture of deep collaboration, honest feedback and continuous improvement
  • You'll manage a portfolio of experiments, testing a wide range of ideas and doubling down on those that work best
  • You'll evangelise best practices for data and ML, and drive adoption across the company

Who We're Looking For

  • You have at least 4 years of relevant experience as an engineering manager in a high-growth technology company
  • You have hands-on experience of delivering complex, technical projects in this space
  • You have at least a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, or a related discipline (a Master's Degree or PhD is a bonus)
  • You can hold engineers accountable to shipping software AND to driving business impact
  • You thrive in an fast-paced, agile product development environment
  • You have experience using "build-measure-learn" cycles to ship quickly, iterate and derive powerful insights

We are a global and diverse group offering a truly flexible and family friendly work environment. Kids, pets, and the occasional delivery person are all actively encouraged to appear on our Zoom screens. All of us at Linktree work either fully remote or a hybrid approach.

We offer autonomy and flexibility in how you structure your days and weeks. There will be the need for some collaboration outside of a "normal" 9-5 being a global company, but we aim to work asynchronously where possible.
