Engineering/Maintenance Manager-To oversee and ensure the safe and cost-effective provision and delivery of all engineering services (hard and soft) and Capital Projects.

Key roles and responsibilities:

• Lead, manage and maintain a dynamic and professional Engineering Team to deliver a highly efficient and cost effective service underpinning the operations and activities of the site.

• Ensure that the site maintenance plan is achieved on time and drive down failure rates, actively seeking causes and eliminating risks of future failures.

• Drive Planned preventative maintenance schedule improvements - ensure engineering focus on the appropriate maintenance, adding value and removing any non-effective/beneficial items.

• Reduce corrective maintenance, especially repeat failures - reduce costs, improve reliability, reducing man-hours overall.

• Focus on legislation/GMP compliance - maintenance biased, ensuring effective management arrangements and acceptable record keeping.

• Lead technical investigations, ensuring Quality Deviations are completed and the appropriate improvement actions are put in place and executed.

• Identify process improvements - equipment biased to improve operational efficiencies, failure rates and reducing energy consumption.

• Ensure engineering support is appropriate and relevant to the Hoddesdon Site key operational requirements both in and out of core business hours.

• Reviewing engineering documentation - ensuring that it reflects what is being carried out and meets expectations.

• Support a comprehensive asset management service for the complete life cycle of the site physical assets in a safe and effective manner, meeting all regulatory requirements and Company Health Safety and Environment Policy, in line with the operational requirements for the site.

• Develop and embed an Engineering critical spares and materials policy, working closely with the EF Warehousing Team and Procurement Functions to effectively manage critical spares, adhering to all relevant company policies and procedures.

• Ensure that a culture of seeking and achieving best Engineering practice is maintained.

• Steer, manage and technically participate in CAPEX projects as appropriate, ensuring all projects are delivered on time.

• As the Engineering Design Authority for the site, work closely with the EF management Team to ensure that all new project installations meet all safety and environmental considerations, demonstrating compliance with Design Principles, User Requirement Specifications and UK legislation.

• Take ownership and control of the Building Management Systems (BMS), working with key site BMS stakeholders to ensure that the system is utilised to its maximum potential.

• To work with the site QA for developing and executing validation programmes, ensuring all identified engineering systems/equipment are validated and compliant.

Requirements:

• The role requires meticulous attention to detail and for all work to be conducted strictly in accordance with company Policies and Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.

• Work efficiently and tidily such that work is carried out in a well-planned and organised way and timely manner.

• Follow all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training.

• Responsible to maintain own training file.

• Ensure that any operating practice or instrument defect, which may affect safety at work, is brought to the attention of Management.

• Respect the confidentiality of information obtained in the course of duties performed and refrain from disclosing such information without written consent from Management, except where disclosure is required by law or by the order of a Court

Pharmaron acquired the Hoddesdon campus, consisting of several purpose built scientific and administrative buildings together with a purpose built conference area in February 2017. The research building has more than 5,000m2 of premier R&D space and houses an established Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Drug Discovery teams. In addition, a Formulation Development team was also recently established. The Hoddesdon site has state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard facilities for the development of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Formulation Development (FD) and Process Chemistry (PC).
