Engineering Manager - Backend Frameworks

We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to lead our backend service framework squad. We build the foundational libraries, tools, and framework used by all backend engineers at Spotify. Our mission is to provide a managed service platform for our customers to iterate faster, safely, and at scale. We ensure making cross-cutting changes across our backend services is simple and cheap, which allows us to introduce higher-level concepts to better support developers at Spotify.

As an Engineering Manager at Spotify, your primary responsibility is to the people you support: ensuring that they are: growing as engineers, delivering healthy technology, and generally having a great time at Spotify. A proven technology background is key, so that you're able to challenge your team members to be their best. You will have the opportunity to influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution.

What You'll Do

• You will build and lead a team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback and hands-on career development.
• Support timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needs.
• Advocate and advance modern, agile engineering practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.
• Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture.
• Grow the technical expertise of your team.
• Facilitate collaboration with other engineers, product managers, and designers to solve challenging problems that affect all Spotifiers.

Who You Are

• You love developing and growing people and have experience in leading, coaching, or mentoring individuals and teams.
• You're passionate about software engineering best practices and love to have an impact on large-scale tech problems.
• You have proven experience working in an agile development environment with complicated and ambitious business requirements.
• You strive to build capabilities that deliver a great, safe and trusted experience, to our internal customers and to Spotify users across the world.
