Engineering Manager
Are you a Degree or HND/HNC qualified Engineering senior leader looking for the opportunity to shape the engineering team to support our newest processing Site. You do not necessarily need previous experience working within a FMCG environment although it would be beneficial.
We are recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join our senior management team based at our Wednesbury site.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Engineering leadership experience to further develop by working as part of a small Senior Leadership Team at this busy and fast-paced site.
Purpose & Scope
As Engineering Manager you will lead the Engineering department in order to support all activities on site. Provide the technical leadership for all in-production maintenance, planned maintenance, continuous improvement and projects to drive overall reliability and availability of equipment. Also you will have responsibility for the facilities management of the site and will be accountable for the Engineering budget.
Operating Environment
This is a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf-life products where hygiene standards are critical. The role is both factory and office based.
What will I be responsible for?
As an Engineering Manager your key responsibilities will be:
- Lead the Engineering department
- Key member of the Site Senior Leadership team
- Responsible for the Engineering Strategy to support the Site KPIs and initiatives
- Responsible for the accurate upkeep of maintenance records through the appropriate use of CMMS to maximise its benefit to the engineering team and ensure that information recorded is appropriate and is of sufficient quality to for subsequent reliability analysis and re-engineering activities.
- Maintain a high level of reliability and availability of factory equipment through an effective planned maintenance regime for the factory asset base, to maximise added value and ensure full compliance with all legal/company specific inspections and calibrations.
- Responsible for the annual planned and predictive maintenance budget requirements for manufacturing assets, including R&M, contracted services and term contractor support.
- Ensuring safe engineering practices across the site, including contractors
- Responsible for the training and development of all Engineers
- Effective communication and collaboration with other colleagues
- Develop strong relationships with suppliers and contractors
- Lead and support improvements projects and initiatives
- On-site Contractor Management
What we are looking for:
Essential
- HND or HNC certification in Engineering
- 6+ years of senior Engineering leadership experience
- Experience in managing projects (capital and/or continuous improvement)
- Proven experience in managing budgets
- Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
- Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team
- Proven strengths in building strong relationships with suppliers and contractors
Desirable
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- CEng or IEng Registered
- Food or FMCG experience
- Experience in change management
- NEBOSH or IOSH
