The Role

We are on the lookout for a dynamic Engineering Manager to join our team at the Livingston site, where we craft premium fish products for Waitrose. In this role, you'll lead a talented team of engineers, spearheading continuous improvement projects, overseeing preventative maintenance schedules, and ensuring we meet all industry regulations. This is an exciting chance for a passionate engineering leader to make a significant impact at a thriving company in the food manufacturing industry.

Salary Range: From £60,000 depending on experience

Duties Include:

  • Lead and manage the engineering team, providing direction, training, and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of all manufacturing equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime and ensure efficient production.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and safety teams to enhance process efficiency and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental policies.
  • Manage engineering projects from conception through to completion, including budgeting, planning, and execution.
  • Monitor and control engineering spend, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Analyse production data to identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team and across the production site.
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services and materials.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or similar field) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in an engineering management role within the food or drink manufacturing industry is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in manufacturing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is an advantageous.
