About the role:
This is an exciting new opportunity to be part of a fast paced/growing business. We are looking for an Energy and Environmental Manager to join our team on a full time basis, reporting into the Senior ESG manager. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in energy utility management, building performance and corporate environmental management.
You will drive sustainable improvements, building out the solar platform and assist in developing the Sage transition to net zero in the most cost effective and sustainable way.
The role is based in our London office with hybrid working arrangements of 2-3 days in the office and 2-3 days wfh plus travel to homes.
Key duties include:
- Create and manage an energy plan for Sage Homes, ensuring optimal use and cost efficiency.
- Monitor utility energy use, forecast expenses, and collaborate with Accounts Payable for financial oversight.
- Analyse energy and water data to find savings opportunities and track communal energy efficiency and anomalies.
- Implement environmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation and managing disclosures (SECR, ESOS, GRESB, SHS).
- Oversee supply chain environmental reporting and legislative compliance, integrating new laws into procedures.
- Report monthly to Senior Leadership on ESG target progress, tracking metrics like cost savings, CO2 emissions, and water usage.
- Work with ESG and asset management teams to prioritise and execute energy projects, operational changes, and technology upgrades for Net Zero, including solar and EV technology deployment.
About you
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental standards and ISO 50001 Energy Management standards
- Advanced, in-depth knowledge of sustainability and energy principles and concepts, particularly related to the built environment
- Experience in managing energy strategies within the built environment and utility management
- Adaptable communication skills to build/maintain relationships with internal/external stakeholders
- Access to own vehicle for business travel (mileage covered)
Desirable:
- Knowledge of communal/ district and residential energy systems.
- Member of relevant environmental industry body e.g. IEMA
- Relevant experience working in a similar industry e.g. housing, construction/development, energy company, facilities or engineering
- Experience in corporate and supply chain environmental management
Qualifications
A Certified Energy Manager (CEM) qualification is highly desirable.
