EMEA Statutory Accounts Manager

Job Purpose

The EMEA Statutory Accounts Manager will be responsible for managing and delivering statutory reporting for the EMEA legal entities to ensure the company's compliance with statutory reporting and other local compliance requirements. The role requires you to be highly resourceful with a continuous improvement mindset for processes and controls. You will play a key role in ensuring the business fulfils its legal obligation and maintains strong financial standing.

You will report into and support the EMEA Regional Financial Controller to ensure all relevant control mechanisms are robustly embedded. You will also work closely with local Financial Controllers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of the Group's statutory reporting.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and perform statutory accounting/reporting activities
  • Manage the statutory reporting for EMEA, including drafting of the statutory accounts and bridge files in collaboration with external in country providers where needed, and be a key contact for queries with the external auditors
  • Prepare timetables and instructions to the region to ensure filing deadlines are met
  • Provide input to the ongoing process of improving the quality of key information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure regional reporting is in line with RWS Group Policies and Procedures
  • Contribute to the implementation and ongoing maintenance of new accounting systems to ensure future Statutory compliance
  • Support on the preparation and delivery of training programmes to finance and non-finance personnel on areas of complex accounting under IFRS or Group Policies
  • Be involved in other ad hoc project work
  • Drive continuous improvements of statutory accounting/reporting processes
  • Work with EMEA Regional Financial Controller to action and execute reporting strategy
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to EMEA Regional Financial Controller on potential opportunities to optimise and standardise existing methods and processes
  • Ensure in-scope statutory reporting processes are documented and stored on the assigned shared location
  • Identify and drive process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of reporting activities including the implementation of efficient reporting tools and platforms
  • Ensure statutory accounting/reporting compliance
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge and adherence to all applicable statutory reporting requirements working with external providers where needed
  • Ensure timely submission of all relevant reports to regulatory authorities such as tax returns, annual financial statements, and regulatory compliance reports
  • Ensure adherence to good corporate governance practices by ensuring transparency and integrity of reports prepared
  • Ensure external audits are coordinated efficiently
  • Ensure periodic review of all controls and procedures within statutory reporting function
  • Collaborate with other teams
  • Collaborate with Group Finance Team to ensure any changes to accounting standards are implemented accurately across the region
  • Collaborate effectively and maintain working relationship with the Group's external auditors to ensure audit deliverables are provided in a timely manner and escalate any concerns to EMEA Regional Financial Controller
  • Collaborate effectively with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders to ensure company compliance to relevant laws
  • Collaborate and maintain excellent working relationships with teams that contribute to the statutory reporting cycle

Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years' experience in a financial management or professional services environment
  • Qualified accountant (AAT/CIMA/ACCA/ACA or global equivalent)
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other business-related discipline
  • Strong English Language skills
  • Experience working for or with multinational FTSE / listed companies demonstrating strong technical skills, knowledge of foreign exchange calculations and risks and experience of acquisition accounting requirements an advantage
  • Strong technical proficiency in IFRS
  • Excellent communication skills with strong ability to interact with company stakeholders to ensure a high quality of service, while balancing expectations and realisations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels demonstrating commercial awareness and common sense
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with a proactive approach, accustomed to working towards tight deadlines whilst maintaining quality of work
  • Experience with different finance systems, particularly Hyperion / HFM

Beneficial to have:

  • Conversant in other languages besides English
