EMEA Head of Electronic Trading Risk Management

Job Description

A Senior Risk Manager based in London with exclusive 2nd line oversight of electronic trading activities across Equities, Fixed Income and FX in EMEA and Asia. This person will be the EMEA Head of Electronic Trading Risk Management and provide reviews of, and challenge to the 1st line on, all aspects of control. Additionally, this person will help build on a globally consistent risk management governance framework.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ownership of electronic trading risk management activities for EMEA and Asia
  • Working with trading, development, and other functions to identify etrading related risk exposures and actively contributing to mitigating solutions
  • Making improvements to the globally consistent governance and controls framework for electronic trading incl. the regional governance committee
  • Performing ongoing review of front-to-back controls versus industry and regulatory standards
  • Performing periodic reviews of variety of testing including those related to algo releases, controls, stress, kill switches and capacity
  • Being the EMEA and Asia eTrading point person for risk in other initiatives such as Best Execution
  • Contribute to operational risk management activities such as RCSA, Scenario Analysis and Event QA (incl. cross regional lessons learned), where required
  • Stewardship of remediation projects, regulatory findings or audit actions related to eTrading risk management

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience in EMEA equity markets (and microstructure) with emphasis on low-touch activities; additional fixed income experience would be a plus
  • Preferred background in computer science or a related technical field with knowledge of areas such as SDLC best practices, technology risk, trading infrastructures (networking/servers), etc.
  • User experience of algorithms preferable, mainly agency equity and knowledge of algorithm components (strategies, tactics, SORs); exposure to principal algos such as CRB or Fixed Income market making desirable
  • Knowledge of cross regional regulatory requirements relevant to the space, particularly MiFID II (RTS6), PRA, FCA, and also of ex-EMEA would be desirable incl. US 15c3-5, FINRA15-09, SFC, etc.
  • Ability to persuade and making compelling arguments and to constructively engage with stakeholders across the organization in a challenging yet pragmatic, business minded way
  • Entrepreneurial and forward thinker - proactively look to optimize technology and data to reduce risk.
