We are seeking a C grade manager to support the Private Equity (PE) channel across EMA in the role of Origination manager, supporting our growth plan in this sector.
PE is a priority sector/channel in the Firm and for our UK, EMA & Global Deal Advisory business, and the growing origination team sits at the heart of our EMA DA practice.
Our origination approach in PE needs to work on a pan-European basis reflecting the sector focused structure of our target audience of large and mid-cap private equity funds.
This role will enable you to work alongside the newly appointed EMA Head of Origination (together with existing and future senior sector managers) to run the day-to-day approach of the origination activity across the initial focus sectors: healthcare & life sciences, consumer, industrials, TMT and business services.

Key responsibilities:
The purpose of the origination team is to gather and review assets as well as keeping up to date on developments in the sectors concentrated on by the origination team. This enables us to be selective in what ideas we take to which funds, maximising our chances of winning new engagements and building our long-term reputation and relationships The role entails:
- assessing which assets are coming to market over the short, medium and long term;
- establishing what the KPMG angle is - do we know the business/management/industry and do we have a perspective on the investment case/value creation potential and
- identifying which investors is the asset likely to be of interest to and who may engage KPMG.
Working closely with the PE origination leadership team you will be responsible for:
- Co-ordinating and participating in the cadence of interactions regarding the key areas above on a country and sector basis.
- Building a network of external advisors (investment banks, law firms) in that particular sector and have frequent pipeline discussions to ascertain market intelligence
- Lead the large cap PE discussions on pipeline, process related discussions on specific opportunities in market and maintain a comprehensive view on sector landscape / opportunities / ongoing projects
- Lead preparation of valid thematic discussions relevant for that particular sector
- Become the internal/external gatekeeper of the sector related activity for KPMG Europe
- Ensuring the requisite intelligence is documented in the central intelligence repository.
- Supporting client and sector teams in preparing for discussions with clients.
- Driving cross sell through combining knowledge of KPMG angles, value creation opportunities and additional KPMG capabilities.
- Assist with other key/strategic projects as they emerge (most likely relating to one of the nine workstreams of the overall PE strategy/plan)
- Develop a deep and extensive knowledge of PE built upon a thorough understanding of the growth strategy
Candidates will ideally possess the following relevant experience:
- A knowledge of the private equity industry, investment cycle and how advisors are used.
- Understanding of the range of KPMG's Advisory capabilities and wider offering
- Judgement as to how to use and position intelligence.
- The ability to build relationships across the UK and European member firms together with experience of managing offshore teams.
- Ability to build external network of advisors and new relationships with PE clients
- Comfortable in leading discussions on pipeline activity with large cap PE clients on a regular basis
- Diligent and methodical in terms of maintaining up to date intel / info on all opportunities in sector
- Use of external intelligence sources such as Mergermarket, Gain.pro and Capital IQ.
