Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and organised individual to lead the operational, financial, and workforce aspects of undergraduate medical education. You will join our placement team and work at the intersection of education and workforce planning, ensuring sustainable teaching capacity and supporting consultant engagement.

Main duties of the job

MAIN DUTIES

Education Administration
• Facilitate undergraduate placements with the Whittington Undergraduate Placement office in line with UCL SLA requirements
• Liaise with clinical and academic staff to ensure high-quality teaching delivery
• Contribute to student induction, scheduling, records management, and feedback systems
• Support quality assurance and reporting for placements and educational delivery
• Lead on the coordination and development of programmes to enhance local teaching such as clinical teaching fellows, midwifery tutors and inter professional teaching activities

Financial Management
• Monitor and manage the undergraduate placement tariff income and expenditure
• Prepare financial reports and forecasts in collaboration with Trust finance teams
• Oversee budgets related to teaching delivery, staffing, and student support activities
• Ensure compliance with financial controls and audit processes
• Actively explore and increase income from teaching opportunities

Medical Workforce and Engagement
• Work with medical workforce teams to align consultant job plans with undergraduate teaching commitments
• Maintain records of consultant teaching activity and input to annual job planning cycles
• Support recognition of educational activity in consultant appraisals and job plans

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post-holder will play a crucial role in coordinating the operational, educational, financial, and workforce-related aspects of the Trust's undergraduate education delivery under the UCL Service Level Agreement (SLA). This role sits at the intersection of medical education and strategic workforce planning, supporting consultant engagement and job planning around teaching activity.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Degree or equivalent level of education or experience
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Desirable criteria

  • Management or finance qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, AAT, CIPD, etc.)
  • Education-related training or qualification

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to analyse and present data and reports
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands

  • Experience of using ESR, Health Roster or finance systems

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience in managing or coordinating administrative services, preferably in an education, NHS, or similar setting
  • Experience working with financial or budgetary processes
  • Understanding of workforce planning and job planning processes
  • Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of data management and report production

  • Knowledge of undergraduate medical education frameworks
