Role Purpose
The Head of Data & Systems will lead the Commercial & Operations data strategy, governance, and systems integration, ensuring that all asset, operational, and commercial data are accurate, reliable, and structured for scalability.
Initially focused on strengthening the integrity and consistency of internal data repositories and management, this role will also oversee current data practices including company's in-house data consolidation and aggregation platform, evaluate efficiency in line with portfolio growth ambitions and lead the transition from the company's existing systems (in-house and external) to an integrated system if deemed necessary.
The role is both strategic and hands-on, bridging technical understanding with business needs to create a unified, efficient, and data-driven environment across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance and Quality
- Establish and enforce robust data governance frameworks, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and traceability from field to operations, asset management and commercial business units.
- Audit, clean, and standardise existing data foundations that can include preparation for migration to a new external platform.
- Develop and document best practices for data entry, maintenance, validation, and reporting.
- Implement controls and automated processes to ensure long-term data reliability.
Systems Development and Integration
- Oversee ongoing development of the current in-house asset management systems, ensuring alignment with operational and commercial needs.
- Gather all data reporting and management requirements from the Asset Management, Commercial & Portfolio, and Field Service teams, and implement effective, scalable solutions to meet their needs.
- Define system requirements and coordinate with internal developers and external vendors to deliver enhancements and integrations.
- If deemed necessary, lead the transition to a third-party platform, ensuring a smooth, accurate, and secure migration of data.
- Ensure interoperability between systems (e.g., finance, O&M, portfolio management, reporting tools).
Data Insights and Reporting
- Oversee the development and maintenance of consistent data structures, dashboards, and reporting frameworks across teams.
- Partner with stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and automate reporting where possible.
- Ensure data systems support strategic decision-making and regulatory/compliance reporting.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Build and lead a small cross-functional team responsible for data quality, systems development, asset monitoring and reporting.
- Act as the key liaison between technical teams, asset managers, and senior leadership to ensure systems and processes meet business objectives.
- Champion a data-driven culture and train internal users on system use and data best practices.
- Maintain data security and confidentiality by using information within the parameters of the job role, any applicable SLAs, the company data policies and / or privacy notices and the statutory guidelines set out within the GDPR and any associated UK legislation, in particular data that is generated by CCTV or that may be classified as personal
