Ecommerce Trading Manager

Hamleys is seeking a commercially-minded and analytical Ecommerce Trading Manager with a proven capability (3+ years experience) of working in a fast-paced online trading environment. You'll be responsible for leading and participating in the day-to-day trading operations of our website and other online trading outlets, driving commercial growth and development, and will collaborate with key stakeholders including Marketing, Buying and Merchandising as well as with partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for digital sales performance, online (at Hamleys.com) and via marketplaces (such as Amazon.co.uk) driving revenue, AOV and conversion
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reporting as required by the business
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to guide and influence future focus & commercial opportunities
  • Own the back-end trading operations, including but not limited to: Navigation, Categorisation, Products & Promotions, along with On-Site Search and Merchandising
  • Build & maintain the digital calendar of trading events, website focus and communications, to maximise sales opportunities & profitability
  • Manage the planning process of sale budgets from top-line numbers to periodic re-forecasts and KPI setting
  • Use website analytics and insight to identify behavioural trends and areas for improvement, and formulate action plans
  • Developing and executing CRM strategy for email programme
  • Contribute ideas towards the ongoing development roadmap, with regards CRO and Customer Experience
  • Maintain awareness of the competition, emerging trends and best practices; identifying opportunities for optimisation and innovation
  • Coordinate seasonal ecommerce product photography programme
  • Line-manage (remotely) an Assistant Trading Manager & Digital Trading Assistant

Specific Job Skills:

  • Proven experience in a similar role at Manager level within a retail environment
  • Proficient with ecommerce platforms - including Product Management and Search/Merchandising tools (Experience using Adobe Commerce, Algolia, Microsoft D365 will be ideal)
  • Optimisation of websites and customer journeys for conversion.
  • Ability to work with and analyse large datasets in Microsoft Excel is essential
  • Experience using Google Analytics, Looker Studio, and Tableau will be beneficial.
  • Able to work autonomously and efficiently, prioritising tasks effectively for self and team.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • A flexible, can-do attitude and passion for online retail
  • Experience troubleshooting and solving difficult and sometimes technical problems
  • Customer-focussed, with a strong attention to detail, quality and accuracy
