The Role
The Early Careers team at Dentons is responsible for an apprentice, intern, and graduate recruitment, alongside trainee development. The individual will be responsible for a team of three comprising of two coordinators and a trainee development advisor.
This role will focus primarily on the attraction and selection for all our routes to qualification while also providing guidance to the trainee development advisor where necessary.
While the focus of the role is the UK and Ireland, the team is also responsible for the Middle East trainee cohort from a recruitment perspective. Working closely with the head of resourcing and trainee partner, the role will have full accountability for the graduate recruitment lifecycle including marketing and events, selection and candidate experience, vacation schemes, diversity, and reporting.
The key objective is to ensure that Dentons is recognised as a 'Challenger' brand and preferred employer in the early careers space, and that Dentons actively engages with emerging talent and operates best practice, legal, inclusive, and ethical resourcing principles.
Responsibilities
Attraction
- Accountability for delivery of the upcoming marketing & attraction campaign for apprentices and trainees.
- Delivery of a new student recruitment campaign for Ireland, as we expand into this market.
- Overall lead on the firm-wide student brand, including the website, social media, campus, and marketing collateral.
- Manage media partner relationships to promote the brand on external job boards and media platforms.
- Work with networks across schools, universities, careers services and student societies to build and maintain positive relationships and to strengthen the brand across undergraduate and school leaver markets.
- Work with the firm's creative department to develop and collate all collateral.
- Working with an external provider, managing the Brand Ambassador programme.
- Attend and deliver on-campus, virtual and in-house workshops and events.
- Support the Early Careers Coordinators on social media strategy and delivery.
Selection
- Responsible for the monitoring and review of the apprentice and trainee selection processes, providing an exemplary candidate experience and supporting the team throughout entire process.
- Attend assessment centres, conduct interviews, facilitate wash-up sessions, make offers, manage acceptance and provide feedback throughout the recruitment process.
- Ensure the team and all providers are following best practice concerning inclusive recruitment.
- Lead internal training on assessment processes and best practice.
- Management of third-party relationships including assessment providers and external assessors.
- Plan and host the firm's spring and summer vacation schemes.
Early Careers Development
- Lead on the future trainee and future apprentice strategy and support.
- Provide pastoral care for future trainees.
- Alongside the Early Careers Development Advisor, plan for and implement trainee and apprentice on-boarding
- Support the Early Careers Development Advisor and Coordinators with Trainee and Apprentice development where needed, including seat moves, secondments, pastoral care and qualification.
Other
- Monitor the Early Careers budget alongside Head of Resourcing.
- Regularly liaise with the Trainee Partner and maintain trusted key stakeholder relationships across the region to gain stakeholder engagement with early careers strategy.
- Responsible for management and development of Early Careers team.
- Collaborate with the Responsible Business team and external providers to ensure the firm meets its inclusion commitments.
- Respond to work experience requests, and management of our virtual work experience program.
- Ownership for reporting on Early Careers data.
- Play an ongoing role in the Firms' response to the SQE, including acting as a member of the internal SQE working group.
- Collaborate with the internal PR team on press releases and award entries.
Required experience, skills, and attributes
- Previous experience of managing high-volume candidate management and running own candidate pipelines.
- The ability ad willingness to travel throughout the UK to attend in-house and external events.
- Previous experience of managing recruitment campaign planning and delivery.
- Proficient user of the MS Office suite and applicant tracking systems.
- Understanding and knowledge of relevant psychometric/assessment tools.
- Ability to maintain a varied and demanding workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to quickly build rapport with internal and external contacts at all levels.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
- Enhanced communication skills, including the confidence to present to large groups.
- High attention to detail, high levels of accuracy and a commitment to high-quality standards.
- Proactive in seeking ways to continuously improve.
