About the roleAs a Driver Trainer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our fleet. You will achieve this by delivering top-tier training and support to Drivers, Apprentices, and Trainees, empowering them to operate vehicles safely, economically, and in full compliance with the law. Additionally, you will assess, train & support partners, potential partners, and agency drivers to guarantee they meet our high standards. Your responsibilities also include the creation and delivery of Driver CPC, maintaining comprehensive Partner Training Records and implementing strategies to enhance driver compliance, driving styles, and telematics scores across the network.
This dynamic role demands flexibility and adaptability, including travel to different sites across the Distribution Network. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, resourceful, and possess a genuine passion for coaching and developing others.
Due to the nature of this role, you need to be over 18 to apply.
This is a permanent role working 47.5 hours per week. A high degree of flexibility is required to cover a variety of shift patterns across a 24/7 operation.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out periodic driving assessments, including those for recruitment and agency.

Demonstrate and coach defensive driving and fuel efficiency skills.

Support the creation, maintenance and delivery of training packages and SOPS/SSOW that align to the needs of the Transport department.

Deliver and record mandatory training to all Transport Partners and Agency drivers.

Provide induction training, follow up support and guidance for new starters, apprentices and Warehouse to Wheels candidates.

Promote adherence to Partnership transport policies and procedures.

Contribute to a safe working environment by being aware of legislative requirements of the workplace.

Deliver tool box talks on designated Safety, Compliance or training hot topics.

Carry out site visits to prepare and maintain Transport Technical Assessments.

Ensure that all Branch and Supplier maps are up to date and to a high standard of usability.

Be a subject matter expert for local road and vehicle restrictions, such as LLCS and ULEZ.

Support project and development work where required.

Work tirelessly to improve the department’s compliance risk rating.
Essential skills/experience you will need

LGV Category C+E Licence

DCPC
-
Comprehensive knowledge of Transport compliance legislation.

Fleet Telematics knowledge

Extensive experience of driving large goods vehicles and a knowledge of all types of commercial vehicles and trailers

Experience of coaching, mentoring and developing drivers
Desirable skills/experience you may have
