Brief Description

The purpose of this role is to implement and deliver an HR Diversity and Inclusion Strategy across the Route, providing subject matter expertise to the organisation. Interact, influence, and engage with employees at all levels across the Route to develop and implement policies, procedures and initiatives to promote equality of opportunity and diversity, create an inclusive culture and meet legal obligations in all areas of employment.

This role can be based out of Birmingham, Manchester or Milton Keynes.

About the role (External)

Some of the key accountabilities include:

1. Develop and implement the governance framework for managing diversity and inclusion within the Route.

2. Research, develop and promote new models and approaches to making diversity and inclusion integral to business performance.

3. Analyse and report on diversity and inclusion data to understand how the business actions impact on diversity in practice, recommend changes and identify areas for continuous improvement.

4. Embed diversity and inclusion into all HR processes, in line with Network Rails diversity and inclusion policy.

5. Provide input and support to the design and delivery of diversity and inclusion training.

6. Provide expert advice and guidance on all aspects of the implementation and application of Network Rails diversity and inclusion policy.

7. Manage and influence both internal and external stakeholders to further develop the Routes diversity agenda.

8. Maintain knowledge of, and communicate changes to, current legislation and the introduction of new legislation incorporating these into Route action plans.

9. Partner with employee resource groups (ERGs) to support their initiatives and provide resources and guidance.

10. Serve as a subject matter expert on diversity and inclusion matters, staying current on trends, research, and best practices.

11. Prepare and present reports on diversity and inclusion initiatives and outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders.

12. Analyse diversity metrics and data to identify areas for improvement and track progress towards diversity and inclusion goals.

In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:

Essential

• Extensive HR experience, specialising in diversity and inclusion

• Up to date knowledge of employment legislation

• Practical experience of developing, implementing and managing diversity and inclusion within a large organisation

• Proven track record of operating in a large complex unionised environment

• Confident operating at all levels within the organisation

• Enabling leadership style, team player, effective people management and communications/influencing skills

• Graduate calibre

• CIPD Qualified

• MCIPD/post-graduate human resources qualification
