Distribution Centre Manager, Manufacturing
Salary: Circa £55,000 per annum
Join us as our Distribution Centre Manager (Manufacturing) within our Public and Industrial sector. Our manufacturing capability is a core competency that enables us to service our customers, ensuring their products are protected as they pass through the supply chain process. The care and protection of inventory is critical to the success of moving products globally from the point of supplier to the point of use.
You'll add great value within this critical leadership role, delivering the management of our manufacturing operations. You'll work across the sectors on a proactive basis and grow our manufacturing capability and exposure across the Group. Wincanton designs, manufactures and supplies specialised protective packaging for the safe transit of equipment into the harshest of environments. Whether our customer(s) needs to transport a single item or looking for a total support package, we provide a large range of packaging services to ensure both physical and environmental protection of equipment regardless of size, shape or location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations lead for manufacturing operations, ensuring a best-in-class HSE performance is achieved and strong safety culture developed.
- Increase capability through infrastructure and partnerships, monitoring customer performance and maximise revenue and business growth.
- Develop individuals and succession plans, ensuring breadth of capability to support business growth and robust business contingency.
- Review of financial performance against budget.
- Build relationships with key customers and key stakeholders, to ensure smooth and effective customer experience and develop the manufacturing customer base. Ensure all contractual and commercial requirements are met.
- Deliver business strategy based on key markets and customers, always horizon scanning for target markets and new opportunities and effectively converting these opportunities.
- Develop an internal network across Wincanton sectors and central functions to support new business activity, including partnering with business development teams where appropriate.
- Ensure marketing, sales and account management teams are engaged to support organic growth and new business.
What will you bring to our team?
- Manufacturing excellence focused, with experience in a leadership role delivering customer focused solutions to meet/exceed customer needs, with the ability to engage with a number of customer stakeholders with varying requirements at the same time.
- Experienced in juggling multiple projects, whilst always whilst maintaining sharp attention to detail with excellent commercial awareness throughout - focusing on bottom line performance and long term business profitability with managing agreed budgets.
- Influential communicator, with drive to build strong relationships with clients.
- Personal resilience and tenacity.
- Ability to operate efficiently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Continuous improvement savvy, with experience in delivering initiatives from concept to standardisation.
