Director of Systems and Solutions

Kennedys is looking for a dynamic and experienced Director of Systems and Solutions to lead our IT systems and solutions team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of IT systems and solutions that support the firm's strategic objectives and operational needs. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of technology trends and innovations.

Team

Kennedys IT is responsible for the maintenance of IT systems and security across the firm, including its portfolio of managed bespoke and off-the-shelf applications . This role will work across all IT functions and, in the case of broader projects, occasionally with other teams within the firm.

The majority of the global IT team are in London and Chelmsford, although some staff are based in other UK and non-UK offices. As a team which provides truly global service, the team are used to working remotely.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the design, implementation, and management of IT systems and solutions
  • Manage resource allocation, project prioritisation, and budgeting for the systems and solutions team
  • Oversee the development and implementation of IT systems and solutions that align with business objectives and enhance operational efficiency
  • Ensure that systems and solutions are secure, scalable, and maintainable.

Required experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT systems and solutions development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of IT systems, software development, and project management methodologies
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in IT management tools and software
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
  • Experience in the legal or professional services industry
  • Knowledge of IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
