Essential criteria

  • Master's level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Leadership or management qualification (e.g., MBA)

Desirable criteria

  • CIPD or PGCert in Education

Leadership & Management Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant track record of senior level management experience in a large, complex organisation
  • Proven ability as a senior leader to achieve goals, manage change and deal with constraints
  • Experienced in leading and managing a multidisciplinary & multisite team, including objective setting and performance management
  • Experience of managing complex change projects
  • The ability to multi-task, re-assessing priorities, to ensure projects are managed and completed to timescales
  • Experience in complex multi-site acute hospital setting

Communication Skills

Essential criteria

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, verbal, written and presentation skills, and excellent listening skills
  • Ability to adapt style to the needs of a diverse environment
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet objectives with conflicting demands

Business Planning and Strategy

Essential criteria

  • Proficient in developing and implementing strategic and business plans for a large organization with a diverse portfolios
  • Ability to plan both in the short and longer term to ensure plans are communicated and delivered and take remedial action as required
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Experienced in chairing meetings and writing and presenting Board papers to senior management, both internal and external to the organisation

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of developing business cases for strategic workforce investment

Financial Management and Commercial Awareness

Essential criteria

  • Good understanding of budget management and ability to monitor, and track financial performance
  • Experience of managing multi million £ budgets
  • Good knowledge of financial and business management techniques
  • A good understanding of contract negotiations and management of contracts

Personal and People Development

Essential criteria

  • Proven staff management skills and the ability to motivate and develop a large and senior team
  • Ability to relate well to staff at all levels
  • High degree of personal Integrity

Desirable criteria

  • Experienced in managing teams across multiple sites

Education and Training

Essential criteria

  • Skilled in promoting and developing multi- professional education and working with stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation
  • Experience of key NHS planning and delivery processes as these relate to commissioning and delivery of education
