As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Core-Dev DevOps team in Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB), you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.

Job responsibilities

  • Designs & leads initiatives to significantly enhance DevOps practices within the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division, ensuring measurable improvements in efficiency, reliability, and scalability
  • Develops and implements comprehensive metrics and analytics to gain deep insights into the health and performance of the DevOps function across the organization. Takes ownership on identifying and implementation of areas for improvement
  • Champions tooling and automation-first approach, designing and deploying innovative solutions to streamline processes, reduce manual interventions, and accelerate delivery pipelines
  • Effectively manages stakeholder expectations and prioritizes the delivery of high-impact capabilities, ensuring that the needs of demanding teams are met with timely and efficient solutions
  • Fosters strong collaboration and alignment across cross-functional teams, driving cohesive and coordinated efforts to implement DevOps best practices and achieve organizational goals
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and expert applied experience. In addition, advanced experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Go or Python
  • Expert level proficiency in DevOps systems
  • Proficiency in Public Cloud
  • Expert level proficiency in CI/CD tooling e.g., Jenkins, Spinnaker, Harness, Artifactory, Big data systems & analytics
  • Ability to develop quick POCs/prototypes to assert assumptions and/or validations
  • Extensive experience in distributed systems, developing and managing business critical 24/7 systems
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Practical cloud native experience

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • The ideal candidate would have deep working knowledge of key systems e.g., CI/CD, Authentication/Authorization, Artifactory Management
  • AWS services, Terraform, Kubernetes
