About the role

We're seeking a Director of SEO and Audience Development to lead and elevate our organic search strategy across our portfolio of in-house brands. This is a pivotal leadership position for a highly technical and strategic SEO professional who can navigate the complexities of enterprise platforms and stakeholder-rich environments. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you'll partner closely with editorial, product, and analytics teams to ensure our organic growth strategy is aligned with business objectives.

You'll own the technical and content SEO strategy, ensuring best practices are integrated into every aspect of our web properties and be the key thought leader on everything organic, leading a high-performance team and fostering innovation to stay ahead of the curve.

As a Director of SEO and Audience Development, you will;

  • SEO Strategy Development: Lead the overall organic growth strategy, including technical and content SEO, for all brands.
  • Technical SEO: Oversee audits, identify technical issues, and propose scalable solutions, ensuring optimal website performance and adherence to SEO best practices.
  • Enterprise Migrations: Manage complex site migrations, including CMS and platform changes, ensuring minimal disruption and sustained growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with editorial, product, and analytics teams to align SEO strategies with broader business goals.
  • Stakeholder Management: Operate effectively within a matrixed organisation, balancing priorities and securing buy-in from diverse teams.
  • Platform Enterprise SEO: Drive initiatives that leverage enterprise-scale tools and solutions to optimise site performance and content discovery.
  • Audience Development: Identify and execute growth opportunities across organic channels, leveraging audience insights and search trends.
  • Narrative Setting: Communicate the traffic narrative story to the wider business and communicate the every changing landscape.

Requirements

Experience & Skills:

  • Proven expertise in leading SEO strategy for enterprise platforms, with a strong history of success in complex site migrations.
  • Deep technical SEO knowledge, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, structured data, crawling/indexing, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Experience working in matrixed organisations, managing multiple stakeholders across editorial, technical, and business teams.
  • Strong understanding of content SEO principles, keyword research, and user intent analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with editorial teams to craft search-optimised content strategies.
  • Familiarity with enterprise SEO tools such as Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, SEMrush etc
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, and Data Studio.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in platform enterprise SEO
  • Experience with brands in the publishing/media industry or a agency.
  • Proven ability to identify and adapt to emerging SEO trends and technologies.
