What you'll do at HammerTech
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for maintaining the reliability, availability, and performance of the HammerTech platform and applications, while reacting quickly to investigate and resolve issues as they arise. This role will work within the Engineering team to ensure our core product continues to maintain high availability by proactively monitoring and preventing issues whilst helping to improve our overall system performance and incident handling.
Responsibilities
- Implement alerts and tools to help efficiently identify and resolve issues related to infrastructure, platform services and applications
- Proactively monitor and identify areas of improvement in reliability, performance, and operations
- Manage our incident response and root cause analysis procedure to help prevent future incidents
- Monitor and identify areas where we could optimise our resource usage across AWS
- Develop tools to enable smooth adoptions of sound service reliability practices and methods, and create documentation on any procedures
- Write code that improves scalability, performance, maintainability, and security
- Collaborate and provide technical expertise within the Engineering team as well as cross departmentally
- Provide guidance to others around monitoring deployments and identifying potential risks

Our ideal candidate will bring the following:
- 5+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, or a similar DevOps role
- Experience with maintaining the reliability, scalability and performance of high-traffic cloud based SaaS systems
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS
- Experience setting up and managing robust monitoring and alerts, using systems such as NewRelic
- Experience with PostgreSQL databases
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages
- Hands-on expertise with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform
- Skills in Cloud/PaaS/SaaS environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with a positive can-do attitude
- Motivated self-starter who is proactive and takes initiative
