Role Overview
At Mar Hall, we are on a transformative journey to position the resort as a leading luxury destination, aligned with Forbes Travel Guide standards, following a significant refurbishment and with continued development ahead.
We are seeking a highly driven, commercially astute, and proactive Director of Sales to lead revenue generation for the resort. This is a pivotal Executive Committee role, responsible for driving new business, strengthening market position, and securing high value opportunities across corporate, MICE, leisure, golf, spa, events, and group segments.
This is a hands on, client facing role suited to a strong sales professional who thrives on building relationships, identifying opportunities, and converting business. You wil
l take full ownership of the sales function, working closely with the Commercial Office team and Operations team who will manage the coordination and delivery of business once secured.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy and Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute a focused sales strategy aligned with overall business and revenue objectives
- Drive proactive sales activity across corporate, MICE, leisure, golf, spa, events, and group segments
- Identify new revenue streams, emerging markets, and opportunities for growth
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and demand patterns to inform approach
- Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts
- Achieve and exceed budgeted revenue targets across rooms, events, and ancillary streams
Proactive Business Development
- Act as the primary driver of new business into the resort through proactive outreach and relationship building
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key corporate accounts, agencies, and strategic partners
- Lead client meetings, site visits, networking, and entertainment to secure new opportunities
- Represent Mar Hall at trade shows, industry events, and key market engagements
- Develop partnerships across luxury travel, golf, and tourism sectors
- Manage RFP submissions and lead contract negotiations to successful conversion
Commercial Collaboration
- Work closely with the Commercial Office team, handing over confirmed business for planning and coordination
- Collaborate with Revenue Management to align pricing and commercial strategy
- Partner with Marketing to support campaigns, brand positioning, and lead generation activity
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure a clear understanding of guest expectations and business needs
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and commercial planning discussions
Brand Positioning and Market Presence
- Position Mar Hall as a leading luxury destination within UK, European, and international markets
- Strengthen brand presence across key feeder markets and segments
- Ensure all sales activity reflects a premium, consistent, and professional brand image
- Support PR and marketing initiatives with strong commercial insight and market intelligence
About You
- Proven experience as a Director of Sales or senior sales professional within a luxury hotel or resort environment
- Strong background across corporate, MICE, leisure, and group sales
- Experience within golf, spa, or resort destinations is highly desirable
- Demonstrated success in proactively generating and converting new business
- Highly commercial with strong analytical and strategic thinking ability
- Excellent negotiation, influencing, and relationship building skills
- Confident communicator with strong presentation skills
- Experience with CRM and hotel systems such as Delphi, Opera, Salesforce, or similar
