Job Description

This exciting role will play a key part in transforming the performance of the Risk Management (RM) function within our Business Services team. RM is a global, internal function, which is responsible for developing our enterprise / corporate risk management strategy with the Executive leadership and then working closely with our regional businesses to implement, such that risk is managed in accordance with Turner & Townsend's risk appetite. The function includes:
- Enterprise risk management - application of corporate governance, learning and development, and reporting;
- Contracts and legal - reviewing our client and supplier engagements;
- Insurances and claims - procurement of all insurances, and the management of claims;
- Service excellence - management and oversight of the service delivery quality assurance programme and compliance; and
- Ethics and corporate compliance - management and oversight of our ethics and corporate compliance programme.
This is a global role and involves engagement with key stakeholders, including members of Turner & Townsend's executive leadership and in our regional businesses and business segments, to establish policies, standards, procedures, and reporting. The role reports into the Global Head of Risk Management as well as being part of the broader RM leadership team responsible for operating and improving the function.
Main responsibilities
- Develop and lead Turner & Townsend's assurance programme as part of our Risk Management function. This role will focus on developing a proportionate and sustainable approach across all 3 lines of Defence, working primarily with our Regional and Segments teams. It also includes working with others to develop appropriate systems and tools to help support;
- Continuously improve Turner & Townsend's risk reporting across the business as well as work with Regional teams to improve performance;
- Plan and lead the delivery of change projects and programmes;
- Support the Global Head of Risk Management with the procurement of insurances as well as be actively involved in leading discussions with members of the Executive Committee, Regional Managing Directors and operational leads on how to manage potential claims and disputes, to minimise risk;
- Support training and education activities, promoting the importance of risk management to all our people;
- Support broader Risk Management initiatives and compliance programmes as required, working with the Risk Management leadership team to shape the vision and direction of the function; and
- Assist with mergers and acquisitions due diligence and integration, where necessary.
Relationships and contacts
The role will report to the Global Head of Risk Management, who is based in London. Primarily interfaces will be with:
- Other members of the Risk Management team, including Operational Risk, Ethics & Compliance and Contract Review teams;
- The Regional Operational business, including the Regional Managing Directors, Regional Boards, Regional Risk Management representatives;
- Other Business Services teams, such as Finance, HR and IT/Digital;
- Other related risk roles, such as SOX monitoring teams;
- Executive leadership, including the CEO, COO and CFO.
The successful candidate will also be expected to liaise with Turner & Townsend's business advisors (lawyers, insurance brokers, etc) and others, including CBRE, who are 70% owners of Turner & Townsend.
Qualifications
- Ideally professionally qualified in a project management role, e.g. chartered project manager, MSP;
- Ideally have a minimum of 10 years' experience, preferably in the construction or management consultancy industry in the operation of a PMO and management of change projects and programmes;
- Experience of working within a global business and be able to work flexibly across other time zones when necessary;
- Efficiently and effectively communicate complex risk topics to non-experts;
- Track-record of success in managing multiple stakeholders and successfully delivering compliance initiatives in a complex global business;
- Ability to manage self and others;
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), including sensitivity to cultural differences across a global business; and
- Self-motivated, pro-active and resilient.
