The Real Estate Development team is an integral part of our Infrastructure and Real Estate division where we support both public and private sector clients on complex infrastructure, real estate and capital projects. Typical engagements cover urban regeneration, transport, energy and renewables, and occupier advisory to central government and large corporate companies.

The Development team leads on strategic real estate development advice, procurement, financial viability, modelling, land assembly, portfolio strategies, organisation and delivery model advice, programme and development management. We work with landowners, developers, public bodies, private investors and funders across a wide spectrum of market leading real estate and infrastructure situations.

With the continued expansion of the business, we are looking for a senior Development practitioner that can be part of the leadership team as the business goes through its next exciting phase of growth. We are keen to speak to talented, ambitious individuals with significant market presence and experience of land and development work both in the public and private sector.

Your role within this high-performance and fast-paced team will be to lead projects for clients to achieve their strategic objectives through transformational development projects. The team is recognised as being one of the country's leading advisors on complex, large-scale, transformational development projects and has extensive experience advising significant public and private sector landowners, developers and housebuilders on major regeneration, transport and infrastructure-led development schemes. Our existing business operate across the UK and generates opportunities that will provide a platform for you to build on.

As a Director in Real Estate Development you will:

  • Build and sustain senior level client relationships whilst identifying, leading and
    converting potential sales from both private and public sector clients
  • Oversee the delivery of multi-work stream development programmes, which could involve leading engagements that combine expertise from across Deloitte
  • Develop a sustainable market for future work in the sector that provides you with the business and personal case to advance to more senior leadership roles with the firm
  • Lead a diverse range of complex real estate projects at any one time - both nationally and further afield, with potential for international travel
  • Lead project negotiations and form development strategies
  • Bring expertise in both private and public sector development, including deep knowledge of the real estate market, trends and the key players within it
  • Develop thought leadership and raise our brand and industry profile creating external eminence for you and Deloitte
  • Build relationships across the wider Deloitte business and develop cross-service line propositions
  • Lead diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
  • Oversee and mentor a team of talented Assistant Directors, Senior Managers, Managers and Assistant Managers and be instrumental in shaping the team's culture by setting the right example as a senior team member

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Ideally MRICS qualified with post-qualification experience in relevant roles
  • Experience in land and real estate development strategy, funding and finance, transactions including development agreements, joint ventures and public procurements.
  • Strong market presence and client base
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Skilled in financial analysis, development management, multidisciplinary team working
  • Strong leadership skills and team management skills
  • Focus on risk management and quality outputs
  • High attention to detail and highly organised
  • Excellent people management skills and experience in building, developing and leading diverse teams, fostering an environment of learning, inclusion and support
  • Experience of having led and coached junior team members
  • Significant experience in managing senior client relationships and generating consistent sales revenue
  • A thorough knowledge of emerging and global sector trends in the real estate industry, including the impact of AI
  • Deep interest in innovation and a drive to build personal eminence in the industry

Our hybrid working policy

You'll be based in our London, Birmingham or Manchester office with opportunities for hybrid working.
