OMass Therapeutics is a biotechnology company based in Oxford discovering medicines against highly- validated target ecosystems, such as membrane proteins or intracellular complexes. The company's unique OdyssION™ technology platform comprises novel biochemistry techniques, next-generation native mass spectrometry, and custom chemistry. OMass is advancing a pipeline of small molecule therapeutics in rare diseases and immunological conditions that target solute carriers, complex-bound proteins, and GPCRs. The most advanced asset is at the candidate selection stage and is projected to enter clinical development in 2025. This program targets the MC2 receptor for diseases of ACTH excess (Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and Cushing's Syndrome).

We are seeking a Director of R&D Project Management. You will be part of a dynamic and innovative environment and will become an integral part of our vision to address patients' unmet needs while building Britain's Biggest Biotech. You will use your project management expertise and scientific curiosity to drive the delivery of our preclinical and clinical-stage therapeutic programmes. You will be part of a collaborative, focused, and caring team.

You will already possess extensive project management experience in drug development projects in a biotech or pharmaceutical R&D setting and have significant experience working in R&D to deliver successful drug discovery and development programmes

Requirements

Essential Experience, Skills and Qualities

  • Deep experience and understanding of early drug development strategy across multiple disease areas, from the late discovery research stage (lead optimization) through to clinical development
  • Extensive project management experience in drug development and pharmaceutical R&D environment, with demonstrated expertise in all aspects of project management based on established PM principles and methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining high-quality networked project plans, budget and resource forecasts, and project management documentation (RACI, communication plans, key assumptions, risk register, etc.).
  • Strong ability to communicate a clear and concise view of project status, critical path, and upcoming work to help the team and functions work in concert.
  • Experience leading and facilitating the identification, visualization, and acceleration of the project's critical path, including the ability to explain the critical path activities and dependencies to project stakeholders.
  • Expertise in managing project risks, ensuring that the risks across functions are appropriately identified, measured, managed, and communicated.
  • Strong experience with project planning tools, e.g. MS Project
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences, including internal teams and external providers.
  • Energetic self-starter with a strong executive presence and a "can-do" attitude
  • Responsible and focused approach to independent and collaborative work, with the ability to prioritise and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.

Basic Qualifications

  • Masters degree or higher in Life Sciences or Business
  • Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry in Research and Development
  • Strong Experience and expertise with MS Project
  • Extensive experience as a project manager in pharma or biotech with skills applied to a matrix team environment in pharma or biotech R&D for both Research stage and Development stage programme; critical experience is in early development (Candidate through Clinical Proof of Concept)
  • PMP trained and in good standing
  • Experience or knowledge of Orphan or Rare disease drug development and/or Immuno-Inflammation/Autoimmune is preferred but not required

Role Responsibilities

  • Own the single integrated plan that is aligned with project strategy and milestones, clear dependencies, assumptions and budget to build team commitment to shared goals and deliverables
  • Ensures projects stay on a critical path through proactive project plan monitoring, risk management, and cross-functional management of project issues with timely escalation to leadership as required
  • Lead scenario planning, generate recommendations, alternatives, and trade-offs, and identify opportunities to accelerate/resolve challenging constraints to strengthen decision-making and optimize the project delivery.
  • Implement and sustain rigorous, high-quality, and compliant project reporting and establish effective working methods for effective team communication, decisions, and conflict resolution.
  • Lead and facilitate regular project team meetings with best practice approaches to support effective team communication and meeting effectiveness
  • Mentor and work collaboratively with others to implement project management tools to help advance different projects and achieve company goals.
