Role Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and visionary Director of Product Management for Sequencing Workflows to lead and shape the future of our sequencing solutions. This senior leadership role will focus on defining and delivering end-to-end sequencing workflows that address customer needs across diverse applications. The successful candidate will oversee product strategy, lifecycle management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive innovation and ensure the success of ONT's sequencing platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Define and own the strategic vision and roadmap for sequencing workflows, aligning with ONT's broader business goals and market opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and customer feedback to anticipate needs and guide product development.
- Product Lifecycle Management:
- Develop a deep understanding of our library preparation products, bioinformatics products and sample-to-answer workflows that create the overall technology solution.
- Own the product requirements for sequencing workflows using Oxford Nanopore Technologies.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of sequencing workflows, from concept through development, launch, and optimization.
- Drive continuous improvements to ensure products remain cutting-edge and user-friendly.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with R&D, engineering, marketing, commercial teams, and external stakeholders to develop innovative, scalable solutions.
- Act as the voice of the customer within ONT, ensuring workflows meet the requirements of diverse users across research and applied markets.
- Provide internal training to the Global support, marketing, and sales teams on the latest product updates.
- Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities and act as the last point of escalation for sequencing workflow issues.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and inspire a high-performing product management team.
- Mentor team members to develop their skills and align their contributions with strategic objectives.
- Performance Metrics:
- Define and track KPIs for sequencing workflows to measure market impact, user adoption, and satisfaction.
- Use data-driven insights to guide decisions and prioritize initiatives.
- Customer Engagement:
- Engage with key customers and thought leaders to gather insights, build relationships, and promote ONT's solutions.
- Represent ONT at conferences, workshops, and industry events as a product expert.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven track record in product management leadership roles, ideally in genomics, biotechnology, or life sciences.
- Strong understanding of sequencing technologies, sample preparation, and end-to-end workflow development.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and ability to translate customer needs into innovative products.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating across global organizations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort with using data to drive decisions.
- Advanced degree in life sciences, engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.
