WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The Director, Design Engineer collaborates with product teams to design and implement high-quality web application interfaces that align with user needs, technical requirements, and business outcomes. This is a hybrid role that combines product design expertise with front-end development skills to create seamless, efficient, and innovative web experiences.

You are:

  • A highly skilled web application designer with a strong foundation in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Experienced in designing and implementing intuitive and responsive user interfaces, ensuring accessibility, usability, and cross-platform compatibility.
  • Proficient in design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD and capable of bridging the gap between design and front-end implementation.
  • Experienced in prototyping with tools like Webflow, Framer and AI-enhanced no code tools.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on delivering polished, high-quality solutions that meet user and business goals.
  • Collaborative and communicative, comfortable working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align on objectives and deliverables.
  • Passionate about staying current with the latest trends in web design, front-end development, and accessibility best practices.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Web Application Product Design

  • Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and developers to create user-centered designs for web applications, ensuring they align with technical requirements and business goals.
  • Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate design concepts and workflows effectively.
  • Apply accessibility and usability best practices to ensure web applications are inclusive and user-friendly.

Front-End Implementation

  • Translate design mockups and prototypes into high-quality, production-ready code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant front-end frameworks.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate front-end components with APIs and other services.
  • Optimize web application performance and ensure responsiveness across devices and platforms.

Design and Development Collaboration

  • Serve as a bridge between design and development teams, ensuring visual and functional consistency throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Contribute to and maintain design systems, component libraries, and style guides to support scalable and cohesive product development.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to maintain code quality and adherence to design standards.

Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and performance analysis to identify areas for improvement in design and functionality.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends, tools, and best practices in web design and front-end development, applying them to improve processes and deliverables.
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusivity in web application design and development.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

  • Proven experience in web application product design and front-end development roles, with a portfolio showcasing both design and coding expertise.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js), and tools (e.g. Webflow, Framer, V0).
  • Expertise in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • A strong understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices for creating inclusive user experiences.
  • Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and version control tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional user experiences through thoughtful design and development.
