We are a function of c370 Professional Services staff, working to provide support, platforms and services that accelerate the work of King's Researchers.

About the role

The role holder will contribute to world-class research and innovation at King's through the provision of high level strategic and operational support for the Director Research Management & Innovation (RMIS) and RMID executive team.

The role holder will work closely with the Director to oversee a complex portfolio of research and innovation services, building a strong culture of service delivery and driving service improvement, engaging with both institution-wide and RMID-led initiatives.

The role holder will also lead and manage the Director's Office, building strong relationships with a wide range of staff to ensure the smooth running of the Directorate, particularly acting as a central point of contact for Faculty colleagues.

This is a hybrid role, based in part from home with an expectation of regular in-office attendance when needed.

This is a full time role (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Demonstrable understanding of user-focused, end-to-end service delivery and performance measures
  2. Ability to define priorities and work flexibly and effectively under pressure to meet demanding (and sometimes conflicting) deadlines
  3. Ability to perceive issues strategically and plan operational activity accordingly
  4. Highly numerate and analytical skills, able to develop actionable insight from multiple, complex data sources and produce compelling business cases
  5. Excellent and impactful communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, including explaining complex ideas clearly and concisely to a wide range of colleagues at all levels of seniority
  6. A working knowledge of higher education and research context
  7. Significant and demonstrably successful experience in operational resource management including experience of budget planning and demonstrative experience of producing and maintaining project documentation (including project briefs, business cases, project plans, risk and issue logs and progress reports)
  8. Positive and collaborative attitude towards working with colleagues at all levels across different functions and faculties to achieve shared objectives

Desirable criteria

  1. Track-record of performing in a rapidly changing context and contributing to a high performing team ethos
  2. Experience of line management
  3. Professional training in finance, change and project management, strategy, operations & leadership
