We are seeking an ambitious and inspirational Director of Maths to lead and develop a high performing mathematics department at Hurworth School. This is a key leadership role, ideal for an exceptional practitioner who is passionate about raising attainment and ensuring every student develops confidence, fluency, and a love of mathematics.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will have strategic responsibility for curriculum design, teaching and learning, outcomes, and staff development within the department, working closely with other senior leaders to drive whole-school improvement.

Qualifications

Graduate in relevant subject with Qualified Teacher Status

Evidence of recent professional development

Skills

Experience

Proven good/outstanding Maths Teacher with at least 5 years' experience
essential

Effective leadershipof a department, at least middle leadership level
essential

Up to date, excellent knowledge in subject, national and local policy, pedagogy and classroom practice
essential

A proven record of managing and promoting curriculum development
essential

Experience of monitoring and evaluating staff performance
essential

Experience of data analysis and effective tracking of pupil progress
essential

A proven track record of ensuring high achievement within a subject area or department
essential

Experience in a management role
essential

Relevant Skills

Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations with a range of audiences
essential

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post and the successful applicant will either need to apply for a DBS or give Northern Arch Learning Partnership consent to check their status if they are registered with the DBS Update Service.
