At our organisation, we're more than an investment fund-we're a purpose-driven team focused on helping members achieve their best financial outcomes. As we continue to expand our global presence, we are seeking an experienced and insightful Director to lead our UK Macro Research efforts within the Asset Allocation & Research team.

The Role

As Director, Macro Research UK, you will provide expert macroeconomic research coverage for the UK and support research on other developed economies. Your work will directly inform our investment strategy, tactical positioning, and support direct transactions, primarily in the UK. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, intellectually curious environment, enjoys synthesising complex economic data, and is passionate about delivering actionable insights for investment decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cyclical and secular economic research with a focus on the UK, supporting tactical and strategic asset allocation.
  • Support the Head of Macro Research with research on the US, Euro area, and other developed economies.
  • Provide macroeconomic analysis and support for direct investment transactions in the UK.
  • Contribute to monthly strategy and investment research papers, and present economic outlooks to key committees.
  • Develop and maintain automated tools and chart packs to monitor macro trends and financial market developments.
  • Play an active role in developing and enhancing the Asset Allocation & Research team's processes and presence in the UK.
  • Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Who We're Looking For

You are a seasoned macroeconomist with a proven track record of delivering high-conviction research in an institutional investment environment. You bring strong analytical and forecasting skills, are comfortable presenting economic views to senior stakeholders, and have a passion for understanding what drives economies and financial markets.

We're particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Experience as a UK macroeconomist within an investment manager, investment bank, government treasury, central bank, or research house.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and oversee complex research projects, delivering on time and to a high standard.
  • Strong analytical skills, including statistical analysis and econometric modelling.
  • Advanced use of MS Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with investment systems (e.g., Bloomberg, Datastream, Macrobond).
  • Postgraduate qualification in economics or a related field.
  • Programming skills (R, Python, etc.) and experience with econometric software are desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to synthesise complex information for diverse audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset and a strong desire to excel in a research-driven environment.
