Job Summary:

Head of Trading is responsible for the delivery of the sales and profit inline with the business targets. Working with the newly created Trading Team to create and deliver the trading plan across the Maximo Group. Cross functionally with data and marketing to ensure we're leaning into sales trends, customer demands and market positioning. This role requires someone with a strong sales and commercial awareness who is able to take initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Placement and Optimization: Strategically plan and work with the Trading team to execute product placement across our websites, including homepage merchandising, category pages, search results, and promotional landing pages. Continuously analyse performance and make data-driven adjustments to optimize conversion rates and average order value.
  • Promotional Campaign Execution: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute online promotional campaigns. Ensure seamless integration of promotions across the website and track performance, providing insights for future campaigns.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as conversion rate, average order value, bounce rate, and cart abandonment. Analyse data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Generate regular reports and provide actionable insights to the team.
  • Inventory Management Collaboration: Work closely with the Senior Inventory Manager to ensure optimal inventory levels and product availability. Identify and address potential stock issues that may impact online sales. Maximising online sales and profitability by optimising range, product, pricing and customer journey to maximise conversion.
  • Competitive Analysis: Monitor competitor websites and identify best practices and trends in online merchandising and promotions. Share insights with the team and recommend strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Technology Collaboration: Work with the IT & Web Development Department or relevant third parties to identify and implement website enhancements and features that will improve the customer experience and drive sales.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with all cross-functional teams across the business.

Essential Criteria:

  • 3+ years of e-commerce trading or online merchandising role, with proven experience of delivering performance improvements
  • Proficient understanding of key e-commerce metrics
  • Has a strong appetite for data and can use it to drive commercial action at pace.
  • Can take initiative and be decisive in their decision making.
  • Gets excited by seeing their actions impact sales live time.
  • Familiarity with beauty or lifestyle retail is a strong advantage.
