Person specification
Registration Registration as a Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council
Essential criteria
- Registration as a Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Membership with the Association of Reproductive and Clinical Scientists (ARCS) or equivalent professional body.
Desirable criteria
- Fellow of the Royal College of Pathology or working toward it (FRCPath Part 2).
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Masters (or equivalent formal qualification) in the domain of healthcare sciences, or equivalent qualifications in the field of Reproductive Science (HSST).
Desirable criteria
- Relevant PhD.
Scientific and Medical Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience overseeing accreditation standards (such as 15189 and 17043) and the HFEA Code of Practice.
- An expert-level knowledge within the field reproductive science.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of presenting on academic courses at institutes of higher education.
Managerial Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of being responsible for the contingency planning of the service, including business continuity planning
- Service planning, including long term planning, development of service/ strategic service development across organisations.
- Experience of HR and financial management
Skills
Essential criteria
- Technical and Scientific experience within the field of Reproductive Medicine to the extent where informed decisions can be made regarding laboratory services.
- Expert level experience within Clinical Embryology or Clinical Andrology: Specialist skills and knowledge
Desirable criteria
- Able to present complex scientific information at local, national and international meetings and conferences to large audiences.

Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
