Job Description
We are looking for a talented Director of Government Relations to join our team specialising in European Government Relations based in London, United Kingdom.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Strategic Alignment: Ensure government relations activities are closely aligned with business goals, identifying key governmental issues that impact the business and advising leadership on public policy and regulatory matters.
- Representation: Represent the organisation's interests at all levels of government, establishing rapport with government officials, industry associations, and trade organisations to advocate for common industry positions.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage risks to the enterprise from government actions, creating action plans to mitigate these risks.
- Advocacy Leadership: Develop and lead advocacy plans for identified issues, including participating in grassroots activities across the organisation.
- Partnership Development: Build effective coalitions with trade associations or outside groups to support the companies' advocacy efforts.
- Legislative Analysis: Analyse legislative and regulatory proposals impacting the business, developing short-term initiatives and tactics that align with business objectives.
- Communication: Lead internal and external communications related to government advocacy activities, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
- Team Leadership: Develop, lead, and motivate Government Relations managers and staff, setting goals for training, development, performance, and career planning to build a strong and effective team.
Responsibilities

- Strategic Alignment: Proven ability to align government affairs strategies with business goals, ensuring cohesive and effective advocacy.
- Leadership and Team Development: Strong skills in leading and developing teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment, while managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment to ensure timely and efficient outcomes.
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent abilities in communication and engaging with stakeholders, building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Legislative and Regulatory Expertise: In-depth understanding of legislative and regulatory processes in the Europe, Africa, and Middle East regions, with the ability to navigate and influence these environments effectively.
- Project and Priority Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment, ensuring timely and efficient outcomes.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Extensive experience in government relations, public policy, or a related field.
- College, university, or equivalent degree required.
