OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting to lead and oversee all aspects of external financial reporting, including SEC and audit committee reporting, as well as technical IFRS accounting matters. This role is crucial to ensuring we are meeting our reporting obligations in compliance with international accounting standard and regulations, while also providing high-level insights and support on complex accounting matters. This role reports directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.

THE CHALLENGE:

  • Lead the preparation and review of our financial statements, including the annual SEC 20-F annual report, as well as overseeing other key financial reports such as quarterly 6K filings and audit committee presentations.
  • Research and interpret new accounting standards and SEC regulations, assessing their impact on the company, and provide training to the finance team on new and revised standards.
  • Prepare memorandums and analysis on complex accounting issues and transactions, including but not limited to impairment, business combinations, capitalized software, share-based compensation.
  • Lead or participate in special projects, such as mergers and acquisitions, system implementations, or process improvements.
  • Work closely with other departments, including finance, operations, legal, and internal audit to address accounting-related issues and ensure cohesive financial management.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact with external auditors coordinating audit processes over financial reporting and addressing complex technical issues.
  • Stay updated on emerging accounting issues and assess their impact on the company's financial reporting.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree a plus.
  • Professional certification such as a CPA, ACCA, or ACA required.
  • Extensive experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior financial reporting or technical role, ideally in a publicly traded company.
  • Deep understanding and expertise with SEC regulations and IFRS/US GAAP (IFRS preferred or willingness to learn IFRS is required).
  • Proven experience in researching and interpreting complex accounting standards and SEC rules.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple competing priorities on a regular basis, and meet deadlines without sacrificing the ability to deliver accurate results in a timely manner.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and SOX compliance requirements.
  • A highly collaborative mindset given the requirement to work together with other members of Finance, cross functional company departments, and external advisers and auditors.
  • Excellent proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English.
