JOB SUMMARY
As the Director of Finance for the UK & Ireland Agencies, you will lead the UK & Ireland Finance team, with accountability for all Finance and Accounting activities relating to the UK & Ireland Agencies.
The Director of Finance will be a key figure in the UK & Ireland Leadership team, representing the UK & Ireland Agencies at Group level, regularly engaging with senior Leadership in both Regional Office (North Europe) and Head Office.
The role presents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Head of Finance / Finance Director to combine their people leadership qualities by leading the UK & Ireland Finance team made up of 9 colleagues, with a wide ranging operational remit.
Operationally, this role is varied in nature, ranging from accountability for all Audit & Internal Controls activities, financial analysis & reporting to Senior Leadership team(s) and budget preparation, to preparation of year-end Statutory accounts, oversight of GL, AP and AR activity working closely with our internal Global Shared Service Centres and being the local expert for all UK & Ireland Tax affairs.
MAIN RESPONSBILITIES
- Solely responsible for management and control of the CMA CGM (UK) Shipping Ltd, CMA CGM Shipping (Ireland) Ltd and MacAndrews Limited Partnership audits to ensure the accounts represent a true and accurate reflection of the activities of the businesses.
- Responsible for all aspects of the GL, AP and AR ledgers including monitoring revenue control.
- Manage aspects of the company payrolls to ensure all internal and external deadlines are met both monthly and annually.
- Responsibility of internal control environment for CMA CGM (UK) Shipping Ltd, CMA CGM Shipping (Ireland) Ltd and MacAndrews Limited Partnership.
- Responsible for the management of all relevant tax affairs of each of the companies to ensure they are in order that taxes including NIC/PAYE, VAT & Corporation Tax as applicable are submitted and paid on time on a monthly/annual basis.
- Risk management- working closely with senior management across the business and shared services functions to prevent and mitigate fraud and loss.
- Responsible for leading, coaching, training and the professional development of 9 team members to ensure the team have the ability to cover all aspects of financial management and accounting for MacAndrews LP, CMA CGM (UK) Shipping Ltd, CMA CGM Shipping (Ireland) Ltd.
- Act as lead contact to build relationships with Head Offices in Marseille.
- Sign off of quarterly balance sheets in Cira.
Audit
- Liaising with internal auditors, acting on any points raised and ensuring correct processes are followed moving forward.
- Liaising with external auditors, ensuring all audits are clean.
- Solely responsible for Preparation of year end statutory accounts for CMA CGM (UK) Shipping Ltd, CMA CGM Holdings Ltd, CMA-CGM International Holdings Ltd, CMA CGM Shipping (Ireland) Ltd and MacAndrews LP
Internal Reporting
- Ensure that shared services recharges are completed monthly and annually and are correct
- Treasury: ensure the cash flow is correctly managed so that the companies fulfil their financial responsibilities on a monthly and annual basis
- Oversee production of internal reporting for senior management
- Solely responsible for submitting group finance package
- Preparation and collation of budgets
- Full co-ordination and submission of monthly management accounts with commentary
- Review analysis to explain the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow
- Regular review of the core target model with GBS team (Global SSC).
- Solely responsible of internal control processes
External Reporting
- Solely responsible for ensuring Companies House is kept up to date including annual filing of PSC
- Solely responsible for managing the liquidations of MacAndrews Ireland, Containerships Dublin, MacAndrews UK Ltd, MacAndrews and Co Ltd
- Solely responsible for Tax computation and liaison with tax advisors for both UK and Ireland
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Fully Qualified Accountant (i.e. CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
- Demonstrable experience of leading a Finance function, i.e Head of Finance or Finance Director.
- Demonstrable People leadership and management experience, with proven ability to instil a culture of high performance and high engagement within teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to develop and manage effective working relationships at all levels.
- Highly developed analytical and problem identification & solving skills to ensure the optimal solution is reached.
- Proven experience of effectively managing Resource budget and cost management initiatives within designated business area(s).
- Working knowledge and experience of Financial Systems (experience working with SAP would be preferable).
- Experience within the Shipping and/or Logistics industries would be advantageous, but is not an essential requirement.
