We are seeking a dynamic, future-focused Director for Economy and Infrastructure to lead this transformation. This role involves steering some of the borough's most high-impact programmes and partnerships.
THE VACANCY
Director for Economy and Infrastructure
Hours: Full time
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Up to £130,000 per annum plus benefits
Location: Dudley
As a key member of the Council's senior leadership team, you will provide strategic direction and operational leadership across a wide portfolio-turning vision into delivery and ambition into tangible results. You will drive major regeneration projects, lead place-based development across Dudley's towns and communities, and oversee modern, responsive infrastructure services that meet the needs of a growing and evolving borough.
Key responsibilities:
- Regeneration and Place-Shaping: Social, economic, and physical regeneration of Dudley and its townships.
- Highways, Transport, and Parking: Including council fleet, home-to-school transport, local safety schemes, and road safety education.
- Planning Policy: Ensuring Dudley's growth is sustainable, inclusive, and community driven.
- Infrastructure, Structural Engineering, and Major Projects: Including place-enhancing public realm investment.
- Economic Development and Skills: Connecting people, investment, and opportunities to grow a more inclusive local economy.
You will take a lead role in forging high-impact partnerships with the private sector, regional agencies, investors, developers, and local communities - putting Dudley at the centre of regional growth.
We are looking for a leader who will:
- Drive regeneration and infrastructure programmes that create lasting value.
- Navigate the complexities of planning, transport, and place-based strategy.
- Deliver through partnership - building credibility with stakeholders, Members, and residents.
- Inspire, modernise, and support multi-disciplinary teams to achieve outcomes at scale.
- Bring clarity, ambition, and rigour to service transformation.
- Understand the power of infrastructure and economic development in reducing inequalities and unlocking potential.
