The National Accounting and Assurance (NAA) community is an overarching identity for a number of teams, including Accounting and Corporate reporting, the Quality Corporate Reporting Centre of Excellence (QCR), Audit & Assurance Excellence, Audit Quality & Risk Management, Inspections, Risk and Regulation, Regulatory Compliance and Learning, EQCR & PSR and client service technology team. In NAA we are dedicated to supporting audit teams in delivering excellent service and maintaining audit quality. We are based in London and Cardiff but serve the whole firm nationally. The team is made up of a mixture of permanent staff and secondees from the audit service line.

A specific opportunity has arisen in the Accounting and Corporate Reporting Team within National Accounting and Audit (NAA). This position will put you at the forefront of the latest developments in all aspects of corporate reporting. This includes working with engagement teams to help them implement technical requirements and working directly with subject matter specialists from whom you can acquire technical and practical skills. The role provides you with a unique opportunity to stay abreast of reporting, governance and regulatory developments - an invaluable skill in today's corporate reporting environment.

The Accounting and Corporate Reporting Team leads an increasing portfolio of projects, internal tools and resources and external communications and events. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Accounting and Corporate Reporting consultations
  • Financial reporting insights surveys and disclosure monitoring
  • Focused hot reviews to complement our Quality Corporate Reporting review (QCR) activities
  • The Finance for the Future Awards programme
  • Working with external bodies in the corporate reporting space (including framework and standard setting bodies)
  • Developing and delivering environmental, social and governance (ESG) and climate change training and activities, including auditor guidance and external learning and information products, and
  • Supporting the ESG assurance practice in A&A, both in the UK and NSE, with tools, training, technical support and insights.

As a Senior Manager within the NAA Accounting and Corporate Reporting team you will also have responsibility for:

  • Maintaining and developing technical knowledge and understanding of narrative reporting requirements, accounting standards, the Companies Act and relevant regulatory requirements and evolving sustainability disclosure requirements.
  • Liaising with the wider NAA team and engagement teams in resolving corporate reporting consultations.
  • Working as part of the NAA team to develop communications, tools, resources and learning on the latest developments and emerging issues in corporate reporting.
  • Having a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when working with diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them including having a clear understanding of the firm's commitment to creating a more inclusive culture.

Essential candidate requirements

  • ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS - experience of applying IFRS in a major accounting firm or in industry is an asset but not required.
  • Strong understanding of corporate reporting requirements and best practice for listed entities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence to drive high quality corporate reporting.
  • Good research and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work under own initiative and to manage and prioritise work schedule.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
