Carne Group is undertaking a strategic, multi-year transformation to develop an AI-enabled, frontier operating model for the global asset management industry. Central to this ambition is the need to build a world-class commercial intelligence engine that enables Carne to engage the right clients, at the right time, with the right insights.
The 'Director - Client & Commercial Intelligence' role will be a pivotal hire within the Product, Technology & Data organisation. This role is designed to transform Carne's commercial data capabilities and to build the market intelligence infrastructure required to accelerate growth globally.
What are the minimum requirements you need for the role?
The successful candidate will bring a distinctive combination of CRM and data architecture capability, commercial intelligence experience, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Essential Experience
- Demonstrable expertise in Salesforce CRM architecture, configuration and administration -with Salesforce certifications highly desirable
- Knowledge and familiarity with the asset management, alternative investment or financial services industry
- Proven track record of integrating CRM systems with external data sources and market intelligence APIs to build scalable commercial intelligence capabilities
- Experience supporting institutional sales and business development functions - translating data and intelligence into actionable commercial outcomes
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills - with experience partnering across commercial, product, operations, marketing and finance functions
Valued Additional Experience
- Experience in a CRM consulting, technology advisory or systems integration capacity - particularly within financial services
- Experience in investor relations, business development operations or fundraising within private markets - including exposure to GP/LP dynamics, institutional capital raising and allocator engagement
- Exposure to AI-powered commercial tools, data enrichment platforms or agentic AI workflows in a sales or business development context
- Familiarity with data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake or equivalent, and experience integrating these with CRM systems
What is your role and your responsibilities?
1. CRM Transformation & Salesforce Ownership
As the internal product owner and strategic lead for Salesforce, this role will:
- Help define and deliver the vision for Carne's Salesforce environment, architecting a platform specifically tailored for Carne business needs
- Lead the development of a scalable sales platform that effectively supports both transactional, short-cycle deals and complex, strategic opportunities involving multiple stakeholders and extended timeframes
- Enhance sales proposal generation workflows by incorporating CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) processes and supporting tools to streamline proposal production and approval
- Work with stakeholders to establish a consistent deal-handover process within Salesforce to ensure all required commercial, operational, and regulatory information is captured at the point of sale and transferred to onboarding teams without duplication or manual intervention
- Support Business Development leadership to drive Salesforce adoption across commercial teams, including the adoption of the Salesforce Mobile Application - improving data quality, reporting accuracy, pipeline forecasting and campaign execution.
- Lead technical configuration, process design and workflow automation within Salesforce, reducing reliance on external consultancy and embedding deep internal ownership
- Maintain and optimise account hierarchy, ensuring accurate alignment and integration with Preqin and other external data sources for all new account entries and updates
- Partner with Technology and Data teams to integrate Salesforce within Carne's broader data ecosystem, including Microsoft Fabric, LinkedIn, Preqin and market intelligence platforms
- Translate business requirements from Sales, Product, Marketing, Operations and Leadership into CRM configurations, dashboards and automated workflows
- Oversee the integration of collaboration tools (such as Microsoft Teams) directly within Salesforce to improve cross-functional communication and workflow efficiency.
- Design and implement robust CRM governance framework - covering data standards, user protocols, pipeline management disciplines and quality controls
2. Commercial Intelligence & AI-Enabled Business Development
Building a best-in-class commercial intelligence capability and embedding AI across the sales lifecycle:
- Design and operate a consolidated Market & Prospect Intelligence Platform - integrating data from external sources into Salesforce and Carne's data environment
- Develop systematic processes for prospect identification, segmentation and prioritisation across Carne's preferred and targeted client cohorts
- Generate proactive, actionable intelligence to support Business Development and Marketing teams with targeted outreach campaigns and opportunity identification
- Design and embed AI-enabled business intelligence capabilities across the sales lifecycle -from prospect identification through to client onboarding and retention
- Lead the development of a scalable sales platform that effectively supports both transactional, short-cycle deals and complex, strategic opportunities involving multiple stakeholders and extended timeframes.
- Leverage data, analytics and agentic AI to support highly targeted campaigns, client segmentation and opportunity prioritisation
- Develop predictive models and insight-led approaches to client acquisition, integrating AI-powered enrichment and signal detection into CRM workflows
- Collaborate with Technology, Data & AI teams to align commercial intelligence capabilities with Carne's broader Data and AI strategy
- Champion the responsible use of AI and data in commercial contexts, ensuring compliance with data privacy and regulatory standards
3. Market Engagement & Global Go-to-Market Support
Supporting Carne's commercial growth across key markets and geographies:
- Leverage/establish knowledge of private markets dynamics, institutional investor behaviour and GP/LP relationships to support Business Development in building credibility and effectiveness in target segments
- Support structured outreach campaigns across private credit, private equity, alternative fund managers and institutional allocators, with particular focus on North American and European markets
- Provide commercial intelligence and operational support to global Business Development efforts - enabling faster pipeline build, more focused outreach and improved conversion rates
- Support go-to-market strategy for high-priority global products including Third party Management Company, Financial Crime, Distribution and broader regulatory and compliance solutions - equipping sales teams with the data and insight needed to accelerate market penetration
- Track market trends, competitive dynamics, capital flows and investor mandates across target segments and geographies
- Build and maintain relationships with market intelligence providers and data vendors to ensure Carne has access to the best available commercial datasets
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Enterprise Enablement
Operating as a valued strategic partner across Carne's global business:
- Work closely with Carne's senior leadership teams across Business Development, Product, Operations, Marketing and Finance to align CRM and intelligence capabilities with strategic priorities
- Partner with Marketing to centralise campaign design, execution and measurement within Salesforce - enabling data-driven targeting, segmentation and performance tracking
- Collaborate with Operations teams, including Customer Relationship Managers, to implement and manage a client satisfaction survey framework, considering NPS / CSAT measurement tools, to support continuous improvement and client experience monitoring.
- Support Finance stakeholders by ensuring CRM data integrity supports billing, invoicing and revenue tracking processes
- Act as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert on CRM, market intelligence and data-driven commercial strategy across the organisation
- Train, enable and support commercial and operational teams in using CRM and intelligence tools effectively - building internal capability and data literacy
- Provide reporting to senior leadership and the Executive Committee on CRM performance, pipeline health, market intelligence insights and commercial effectiveness
