Location: Manchester/ Liverpool/Bolton/ Leeds/Southport/Hybrid

Fletchers Solicitors present a fantastic Partner-level opportunity to lead the Business Development function of our leading legal practice

This is an exciting new role, accountable for the growth of Fletchers Solicitors through the strategic development of our external relationships, online presence and other organic marketing channels, leading our Business Development, Charities & Partnership and Marketing functions. This is a senior partner level role within the Company and the successful candidate will become part of the Senior Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will use their previous experience in the legal field to conduct high level industry research to develop effective growth plans, promote the company's services to prospective external clients, participate in collaborative meetings with key stakeholders and provide continuous constructive feedback to the Executive Leadership Team about business development opportunities. They will identify new opportunities, lead on tenders and build new relationships to drive high quality work into the business.

Main Responsibilities for the role:

Strategy & Leadership

  • Understand Fletchers' key strategic growth plans and set out a clear plan to contribute to that growth through key relationships with external charities and partners
  • Demonstrate expert strategic account management to ensure that existing relationships are effectively fostered and all commercial opportunities, ultimately measured by Fletchers receiving new client instructions, are maximised
  • Deliver strategic relationships with new charities and partners that bring material commercial opportunities in the form of client instructions
  • Ensure all relationships align with our purpose and values
  • Lead the Fletchers Solicitors Marketing function, including website design, control and optimisation, all branding materials and general marketing
  • Ensure that all marketing content and external communications are consistent in tone and content with Fletchers strategic goals and our purpose and values
  • Lead all tender processes for new commercial relationships
  • Champion the business development agenda in organisational decision making
  • Accountable for the Business Development, Charities & Partnership and Marketing budgets.

People Management

  • Lead the Business Development, Fletchers Marketing and Charities & Partnerships teams
  • Ensure that key colleagues from the wider business, including from the Partner and Associate groups, meet their obligations to contribute to business development priorities and relationship management responsibilities
  • Coach, develop and support managers to achieve excellent technical leadership practice
  • Model Fletchers' values in management behaviours

Technical

  • Manage all day-to-day relationships with Charities and Partnerships, working with the team to ensure that senior leaders, Partners and Associates are actively involved
  • Work with the Group Marketing team to support brand development and content that builds relationships
  • Co-ordinate external relationships, ensuring that all key stakeholders have appropriate contact from Fletchers, including senior leaders, Partners and Associates where appropriate
  • Ensure the team provide consistent, high-quality marketing and communication content to promote the specialisms and expertise of our legal teams and services in order to drive growth and recruitment

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience of leading a business development function based on sourcing, establishing and building strong b2b relationships - ideally from a legal background.
  • Experience in the same/similar role within other serious injury and clinical negligence firm/s is preferable
  • Strong Marketing and brand development skills
  • Ability to create business development strategies and execute them successfully
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working and business relationships with a wide variety of people
  • Evidence of driving EBITDA growth within a large professional services business
  • Ability to lead teams to provide excellent customer service
  • Experience of coaching and supporting others to provide excellent relationship management
  • Effective negotiation and closing skills
  • Ability to role model good practice people leadership
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Technology literate, with good skills in Microsoft Office packages
