Associate Director, Business Banking

We're seeking an experienced professional to drive the growth of our Business Banking product line, with a particular focus on acquiring new high-growth, venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) backed businesses, while expanding relationships and networks within the VC and PE ecosystems.

We launched OakNorth Business Banking last year to support the UK's most ambitious and growing businesses to succeed and scale, offering them tailored banking solutions which are the right fit at each stage of their journey. The successful candidate will be pivotal in the next stage of our growth and will join a dynamic and fast-paced team, where collaboration and customer experience are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Customers acquisition: Identify, target, and acquire new high-growth businesses within the scale-up, VC and PE ecosystems.
    • Relationship management: Build and nurture strong relationships with customers, driving increased value through higher product usage and share of deposits.
    • Brand advocate: As one of the faces of Business Banking, represent and build the OakNorth brand as a leader, and the go-to for VC/PE-backed businesses. This will be done through attending and hosting events and building relationships with external introducers.
    • Market knowledge: Keep up to date with industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities within the FinTech,VC and PE ecosystems, and leverage insights to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.
    • Team collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional experiences for our customers and drive the success of Business Banking.
    • Strategic partnerships: Foster strategic partnerships with key industry players to enhance our market positioning and reach.

What you'll bring:

    • Proven track record in a similar commercial or sales role, ideally within a VC-backed or high-growth fintech environment.
    • Deep understanding of the needs of growth businesses, particularly in terms of banking and financial services.
    • A strong network of relationships within the venture capital and private equity communities.
    • Demonstrated track record of building new and leveraging existing relationships to achieve business targets.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade.
    • A passion for innovation and a drive to challenge the status quo.
    • Comfortable working in a hyper growth, founder-led, entrepreneurial environment where success is demonstrated through commercial results.
