We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Optimization Executive to join our growing Marketing Team, based in the A&O Shearman Belfast office.
The Digital and Marketing Technology team implements and manages the firm's integrated marketing information systems and digital marketing communications channels. The digital channels include our public and client websites, email marketing system, content libraries, and blogs. The team is also responsible for the technologies that support core business development and marketing processes, including experience collection, contact management, pitching and opportunity management, CV management, event management, client segmentation and marketing analytics. These broad areas of activity support each other and overlap, helping to provide a 360° view of our interactions with a client.
The team is part of the global marketing, business development and communications group.
What you will do
We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Digital Optimization Executive in our Belfast office to drive SEO, generative engine optimization (GEO), and digital content initiatives that will improve our digital content and campaigns and boost quality traffic to the A&O Shearman website.
This role blends classic SEO expertise with cutting-edge GEO-ensuring our content is discoverable, relevant, and authoritative in both search engine results and optimizing the firm's content for mentions in AI-generated responses.
They will take ownership of complex projects, influence digital strategy, and mentor junior team members, ensuring our content is discoverable, authoritative, and aligned with latest industry trends.
The executive will work closely with different stakeholders including the Global Content and Campaigns team to ensure the ongoing success and optimization of the firm's content, while playing a vital role in increasing the visibility and emphasis on SEO and GEO within the business.
Alongside the Digital Manager, they will ensure the internal reporting dashboards are optimized to reflect relevant website and content performance data in line with SEO and GEO strategies. Similarly, they'll identify and manage general technical and off-page SEO improvements for the site such as site speed, structured data, sitemap indexing, link building and more.
- Driving the GEO and SEO strategy for the firm alongside the Senior Digital Manager and wider team.
- Conducting keyword research and providing recommendations for static pages, insights, and content campaigns.
- Optimizing metadata, internal linking, and on-page elements for SEO and GEO.
- Monitoring performance and keyword rankings using Google Search Console, SEMrush, and other related tools.
- Identifying and managing technical SEO, accessibility, and performance issues.
- Monitoring emerging trends in AI search, SEO, and digital best practice.
- Working closely with the Content Review and Workflow Specialist to ensure website content is being published in line with brand and digital optimization guidance.
- Working closely with the Content and Campaigns team in optimizing campaign content in line with SEO and GEO strategies. This includes reviewing and refining copy, recommending templates, layouts, components, and formats.
- Collaborating with the Digital Manager and Content Review and Workflow Specialist to analyze content performance dashboards and benchmarking to identify content that either needs to be improved or retired from the website.
- Maintaining digital optimisation guidelines and sharing best practice with the business, offering advice and specialised training where required.
What you will have
- Signifcant experience in SEO and digital content optimization.
- Interest in generative AI platforms and conversational search/AI prompts.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with various digital tools (GA4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, SiteImprove).
- Understanding of structured data, schema markup, and entity-based SEO.
- Familiarity with user-centred design processes and web accessibility matters a plus.
- Excellent written skills, with a keen eye for detail and perfect grammar.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Is a self-starter, uses initiative and has a desire to take ownership of projects.
