Digital Integration Manager

About Us
The appointee will join the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences.
About The Role
This post supports the deployment and safe adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) within NHS imaging services, contributing to delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan through digital innovation and improved diagnostic pathways. The role forms part of a multi-site MRC programme evaluating the use of AI to support the triage of adult brain MRI scans within routine clinical practice.
The intervention under investigation is a UKCA Class I-certified deep learning algorithm designed to assist radiologists by automatically classifying adult brain MRI scans as "normal" or "abnormal" at the point of image acquisition and dynamically prioritising abnormal cases within reporting worklists. The AI system provides decision-support only and does not replace radiologist interpretation or clinical responsibility.
The Clinical Integration Manager plays a key role in ensuring the safe and effective deployment of this technology. The postholder will act as the PACS/RIS and imaging integration subject-matter expert, supporting local implementation via a Vendor Neutral Platform (VNP) integrated with existing PACS and RIS infrastructure. There are other full time and part time trial team experts working in a similar capacity to help manage. The role requires close working with multiple system vendors, clinical safety leads, digital and information governance teams, and the research team to ensure AI outputs are technically integrated, appropriately displayed, and aligned with established imaging workflows.
The role supports both pre-go-live implementation and post-go-live operational assurance.
The go-live phase is anticipated from September 2026, allowing sufficient time for pre-go-live readiness. During this phase, the postholder will support the integration of the AI tool into local PACS and reporting workflows, ensuring configuration and use align with the AI manufacturer's intended use and local clinical pathways. This will include system configuration, workflow validation, testing, and clinical safety assurance.
Following deployment, the postholder will provide ongoing oversight of PACS and VNP functionality and support the secure extraction and transfer of approved imaging data for service evaluation and research purposes, in line with UK GDPR, Trust Information Governance policies, and national clinical safety standards (DCB 0129 and DCB 0160).
This is a part time post (0.2FTE / 7 hours per week) and will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 1st August 2028.
